Please meet Holly, previously Amber, who was not re-named thus because of any connection with the festive season, but in memory of little Holly Wells, who, together with her friend Jessica Chapman had her young life so tragically ended at Soham in August 2002. Holly is four & a half months old. Mum: Deerhound/Retriever/Bearded Collie, Dad: Greyhound/Whippet. Jenny was contacted by her previous owner in Portland, Dorset, who was unable to cope with her puppy shenanighans, especially since her work involved her leaving Holly alone for longer than is desirable for a pup. She had herself taken her from someone who also owned Jack Russells – Holly & the JRTs were not getting on. Mo agreed to collect Holly on Friday afternoon on SLR’s behalf, but by Friday evening she had become totally smitten by the lass, & decided that she would treat herself to an early Christmas present by paying SLR’s standard adoption fee & keeping Holly in Dorset, albeit in Poole rather than Portland. I am personally absolutely delighted at this outcome, not only by the knowledge that Holly has found a wonderful home where she will be loved to bits, but also because the little lass bears an uncanny resemblance to Bob, my very first Lurcher, who to my mind was the greatest hound ever to have set foot on this planet.

Holly, now ten months old, is absolutely exquisite!
The little lass is here with me for a couple of weeks whilst her Mum & Dad are on holiday in Greece. Mo has forewarned me that Holly is a countersurfer, thief, & destroyer of owt vaguely chewable left within her considerable reach: in other words a typical Lurcher pup! ;D

OMG. She has grown so beautiful. No wonder she nicked her in transport Yup - If Mo had made it this far without succumbing to the little girl's abundant charms, I'm pretty certain that Holly would have become my fourth failed foster! ;D ;D ;D

As well as being extremely playful..............................

................................Holly is very vocal.
I thought I'd soon put a stop to that by employing the trusty water pistol: all my lot run a mile when it's produced - I haven't actually had to use it for yonks.
The theory was o.k., but in practice? Holly thinks it's a game - she loves being squirted & happily comes back for more!
Ho hum, back to the drawing board.

she is so lovely but i am biased for obviouse reasons, water pistol works for lenny but rosie delights in the game ,when i get the hose out she startshooning around waiting for me to soak her.

Holly & friends at North Weald yesterday:

The lass can be a bit of a pain on the lead, so I bought a harness for her on Monday afternoon, & 'twas great....................until Thursday morning, when she chewed through it!
Shouldn't complain really, since the little moo sweetheart hasn't done much other damage, apart from having an altercation with the loo brush - the brush lost! ;D
Only ten days more to survive......................................

The adorable Holly's in Harlow with Bridie & Paddy for an overnight stay, & she's soon proved that some things never change:
