Winnie was picked up as a stray, so we have no history on her, but we suspect that she may have been worked & then abandoned by travellers.
She’s a very pretty little lass, who has not been neutered.
Winnie stands about 25" at the shoulder.
She could do with putting on some weight, which will be immediately addressed. This should be no problem, as she possesses a very healthy appetite!
Winnie was initially very nervous, but is gradually coming out of her shell, & the tail that was permanently between her legs is now frequently wagging.
It is not yet known if she is cat friendly.
She is about to have her initial vaccinations & will be flea treated & wormed.
Winnie is in season, so cannot be speyed for some three months, but Southern Lurcher Rescue will help with neutering costs.
We are convinced that with a little TLC this little girl will make some lucky family a super canine companion.

Winnie is currently being fostered & assessed by Barney, to whom all enquiries should be directed.

You've used 2 magic words - Saluki and cross - and she's lovely. But we're not good with unspayed bitches . When is she likely to have the op? The scar on her hind leg looks typical of a form of tethering dogs.

Um, I seem to have read somewhere, (possibly on the initial Winnie post above?), "Winnie is in season, so cannot be speyed for some three months." Absolutely right John, one of the reasons we immediately thought 'travellers.'
Edited to add:
Another was the regular-shaped chunk out of her left ear.

She is gorgeous. Would happily foster her once her season is over if you need me.

She is gorgeous. She is indeed, & she was as good as gold at the vets today, where she had a check-up & her first vax. It did make me wonder if she's a proper Lurcher though - no shaking or whingeing in evidence! Many thanks Laurie - she has had some initial interest from a lovely couple who have already been successfully homechecked by SLR & have been patiently waiting to find the right companion for their Saluki X lad. We'll get back to you as soon as we know what's what in that direction. Fingers crossed that the couple fall for her. That would be lovely.

Popped into Barneys earlier and Winne greeted me with a wag and kisses. She is starting to come out of her shell. She is lovely placid girlie. She was so gentle and patiently waited for her treat from Barney and enjoyed my cuddling into her. Oh she is so lovely. How could anyone ill-treat such a lovely creature. I think Uncle Barney has the magic touch. She is thriving there. ;D ;D

Some pics of the lovely lass this morning, where the gap left by the chunk taken out of her left ear can be clearly seen :

I'm working on bulking her up a bit - she weighed in at 23 Kilos yesterday, & could probably do with being about 25. This should present no great difficulty - she possesses a voracious appetite!
Mummy Chook has testified above as to Winnie's affectionate nature, & as she's coming out of her shell she's also proving to be more & more playful - she attempted to get Seamus to play with her earlier, but poor old 'Hopalong' is regrettably currently in no position to oblige her.
Someone, somewhere, (& we have some very appropriate folks in mind ), is going to strike lucky in having this lovely girl in their home-kennel.

I doubt you'll find many folks disagreeing with that! Quite possibly because members of a certain fraternity see it as a means of identification that's a tad cheaper than microchipping, regardless of the pain inflicted on the poor recipient of such treatment.

The entry in Winnie's diary for the morning of 26th November says that she will be meeting a handsome young Saluki X gentleman in London.
