Jess and his litter brother came into us painfully thin and very unfit. Jess particularly so. He only weighed 14 kilos, around 6 kilos underweight for his age. Jess is very small and we are hoping that now he is in a lovely foster home and being fed a good puppy diet he will catch up. He is very very cute, and loves cuddling up to his foster family dogs.
Jess will need to be rehomed with a family who have dogs already. He is not quite ready for adoption yet, but nearly there. Jess will not be able to be neutered until he is around 11 months to 12 months old as he needs to grown on. He has had a bad start to his little life but things can only get better now.
If you can offer little Jess the love and support and a family life please get in touch. We need someone around part of the day so part-time workers only. This little man has already been left for long hours and we will only accept the very best home for him. Children are welcome. If they like being licked all over. As you can tell, little Jess is a big hit with all at SLR. ;D

Jack and Jess have been home alone for a few months and have been finding their own way to amuse themselves. This has resulted in their owner realizing that he cannot leave them for 10 hours a day! They have just arrived in our care and one will be fostered in Kent and one in Essex. Both will need feeding up and the little one is paintfully thin. I will post more later when they have settled. Here are two lovely boys who are just babies and shouldn't be left home alone for this length of time. We are going to separate them but both would be okay to go to homes with other dogs around.

They are painfully thin, especially little Jess who is being fostered with Ian and Lesley. Here are the first piccies of picking them up. Once again thanks to Laylah for taking them in, getting them to the vets and being number one stop. Doug for transporting them all the way up to South Mimms, Ian for transporting one pup down to Kent, and Jules, my driver and confident for the day. We consoled each other that these pups were now in the best possible place. And lastly thanks to Jane and hubby and girls for taking in little Jack who just looked so relieved to be finally settled for the day. Little Jess, the smallest of the two And poor little terrified Jack. Whilst we waited for Sticky to arrive home we opened a bag of Burns and let little Jack have another feed. He had already cleared Jules of her pocket of treats. One biscuit dropped down the side of the seat and he was frantic to regain it

This post is copied from the original thread. Jess is in foster with Ian and Lesley in Kent. Well we have little Jess. What a sweet little dog; all he wants is cuddles and would lick you to death if you let him. He looks so fragile. He has had 3 small meals; a couple of mouthfuls worth each time so as not to overload him, and it hasn't touched the sides, so I don't think it will be long before he fattens up. Slow and steady I think. unfortunately Snoopy has told him off and Tigger has sloshed him, but I think he will be cat friendly now, not that he was chasing at all, just curious. He is booked in tomorrow to have his vaxs and I will get him weighed.

Update from Jess's foster mum Had Jess in the bedroom on his own and he had a good game with a cardboard tube. Please ignore the dialogue, I forgot it records my ramblings. He is now crashed on the floor asleep. It really doesn't take much to wear out a lurcher. ;D

I think giraffe necks and long noses run in the family. quote; Are you keeping Jess then?quote No. As much as he is adorable and yet again everyone has fallen for him, if we kept him, we couldn't foster any more.

Just a few more piccies to update on this gorgeous, cuddly puppy. This is Jess showing how long his legs are. Jess playing at our local country park. The only reason we have put a muzzle on him is that when he is playing he gets a bit excited. We have not seen him chase anything and he seems quite content just playing with our Bran and Snoopy or trotting along with us. His recall is coming along a treat - shows Bran and Snoopy up. He likes his cuddles and I've just noticed the chocolates; he doesn't pester for those either, always a plus. ;D He is also very cat friendly; I'm not sure he even noticed Tigger behind him. This is one lovely puppy and anyone adopting him will be very lucky. I think he will make a very loyal companion and is so ready to learn. Also he is very child friendly, although anyone adopting him would have to watch him with small ones as he would probably lick them over.

Tempting, but no We only have room for 3, so if we keep Jess then we couldn't foster any more, and we want to be able to help other dogs like this lovely puppy.

Just to let everyone know that Jess is now full house-trained. Even when she had an upset tummy over new year, we put paper down for him overnight, and used that, so we had no mess.
His recall is very good even when other dogs are about.
He walks well on the lead. I have him on a halti at the moment because walking 3 dogs it is easier as with the other dogs he wants to be out in front, but other than he walks beautifully.
Little bit nervous of pushchairs, big traffic, but then so is Bran, although he is getting better. I have found walking Jess with Snoopy is good, as Snoopy isn't bothered and this is calms Jess.
I will post some more piccies soon; they are on my phone and I am just waiting for a computer lead.
As much as we all love him to bits here, he needs his forever home with a playful dog and owners, as he is getting quite attached to our hounds and us.

Nice update on little Jess I am sure a someone will soon snap up a house trained little fella like him. It will be nice for him to find his own home as you say they start to get attached to family and hounds.
