Thanks for posting those photos Jenny.
After breakfast I took them all out for a longer walk, Dave and Margot off-lead and Lola harnessed with my 15 m lung line attached to give her freedom in safety. They had a wonderful time, galivanting, racey-chasey then following foxes scent, together. When I can I shall post some videos. Lola has been used to 'riding shotgun' so I will need to buy a safety belt to attach to her harness. She flops down and snoozes for the entire journey. She has been accepted by Margot and Dave and they ran as a pack today which made me so happy. As was Lola with her bonkers ears held upright, overlapping in the middle so it appears she has an inbuilt parasol. You'll see what I mean when I can upload media.

Thanks Jenny! Well Lola is a confident, self-assured bundle of mischief, but not in a naughty way. This is Day 4, after which a fosters' character emerges. She's into everything! The world is an exciting and fun place for her and I am yet to discover anything that phases her. A Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner... she chases. A spray mop...she pounces on. The showers and a bath running...sits and watches, fascinated. Thunder and lightning..no reaction. Her appetite is huge and yes, I have wormed her. So, little and often as she would eat everything in one go if allowed. Her recall in the home and garden is exceptional, trotting to me on the first asking. Her little fore legs, have a *dishing* action, where both legs have a slight rotation. (This is usually described in a horses gait conformation.) She toilets on command and I'm pleased to tell that the perriwinkle, now thoroughly fertilised, lives! and she now chooses to poo on the artificial grass. Lola has obviously been well cared for and she has, apart from the great recall, been trained to sit for treats and whilst waiting her turn to be fed. She also knows 'lie down', but having said that she could be mimicking Margot who does this dramatic 'kerplunk', 'lie down'. She's sleeping well and likes her crate although it is more a refuge as she prefers human contact when zonking out. Lola is an early riser, whereas Davey and Margot are not! Their expressions when she whirlwinds up to them...It's a Kevin and Perry moment where this little whippersnapper is viewed as a mild irritant, who has the sheer audacity to interrupt their slumber and don't emerge from their pits until the sun lights up their 'boudoir'. They have effectively commandeered our front living room. We have been to three different walk locations where she happily snuffles, following the different scents, happily greeting all new dogs with manners, with no lead reactivity. The only time she barks, (shouts), is when she's trying to *encourage* Davey and Margot to come play! And loudly audible growls when playing tug o war. I have such admiration for the undoubtedly loving owner/s who relinquished Lola to SLR, thinking of her needs before their own. In my opinion, she's an adorable, well socialised, bright and obedient young pup who has not endured or suffered in her formative months. She's in The Vet for her spay at the moment. I was upset when I took Margot in for her op. At 8am this morning when I left her in the safe hands of Hermann, (who spayed Margot last April), the familiar 'prickly eyes' and deep intakes of breath, stifling a tear...it doesn't get any easier. And yes, I know it's absolutely for the best particuarly as a certain *mobile* community of trespassers have pitched up locally. Plus the health benefits of dispensing what would be redundant reproductory equipment. So, she's being spayed, before 12 and I've left a Suitical for the Nurses to dress her in, thus avoiding that awful cone malarkey. Not the greatest photo showing Davey and Lola on a freedom longline on our first walk as a pack. Margot, decided to duck out of this one.

Thanks for the good wishes for Lola. I have had the call that she has had her op, all went well and she's safely through her anaesthetic and in Recovery Collection any time after 4pm. Davey, Margot and I have been out and about, keeping busy on a training outing as a distraction from my worrying. Davey's prey drive has begun to be problematic just recently, so he is for now muzzled and I am a forever grateful Padawan to Christine's Jedi Master , where I am putting into practice switching his prey to pack drive with astonishing results thus far.

Lola is home, a little wobbly and spaced out. Her abdomen has livid purple bruising which is to be expected as there are so many major blood vessels there. She's been out for a supervised wee and poo and has been sleeping sporadically in her crate, my room and is wafting about like a lost soul. I'm cooking her chicken, rice and peas. If she eats it, all well and good but at least she's some water. On our return Davey and Margot greeted Lola in a gentle, respectful manner, nuzzling her and giving a good sniff and then allowing her to settle. It's been humbling to witness. I had not seen this before as my only experience of spaying in a hound was with Margot when she was my first hound, way back in April last year. I've applied ArniCare to her little tummy and she's in a natty blue camo Suitical to protect the wound. I've been asking myself as to why Lola's spay has affected me so and I think it's because we have a definitive age for her, whereas Margot's age is unknown. Lola is 7 months and 1 week. A mere pup. I'll be checking her wound daily and we're back for a wound check on Thursday. Then lead-walks only for 14 days.
