Little Lola is in. Sadly, due to her owner having to now work long hours, and her just being a pup she has got bored and been a little destructive. She has been well looked after and is a happy puppy. She is fully vaccinated.

Transport run cancelled. Kaaren came over today to walk in the Country park with the girls, and Penny turned up early with little Lola. Kaaren's Margot got on so well with the pup she offered to take her home for fostering.. Not sure Dave felt the same way, but we'll see. Huge thanks to Clair, as this the second time her foster hasn't quite made it to her. xxx

Well done Kaaren. Don't worry Claire, I'm sure another poor little hound will be in need of your care before long.

Bless her. I was hoping to have a squidge of that lovely face. But so glad she has hopefully found her forever home. I'll be looking out for my next foster pooch. But until then, good luck Lola. Clair xxx

Guilty as charged M'lud It's funny isn't it, when you meet up with Jenny for a walk and natter with 2 hounds and somehow come home with 3! We were long overdue a catch-up and our walk was arranged for Thursday but Storm Doris hit and so the walk was postponed until yesterday...and, as they say, the rest is history. A huge thank you to Penny for doing all the leg-work and transport in order to secure this cheeky pup's safety. Another huge thank you to Claire for being so obliging and understanding afterall, I did snaffle Lola. And of course to Jenny. It made sense for me to foster as Lola absolutely loves being with other hounds and seeing how she interacted with, at one point @ Jenny's, 4 plus my 2. Lola definitely holds her own and it was just wonderful to see this little girl so happy, waggy tail, play bowing, confident and sassy. She's obviously been well cared for and well socialised. Margot is nurturing her and Dave has become rather, ahem, rampant but that will be sorted on Tuesday 28th Feb when Lola is booked for her spaying. The drive home was interesting as all 3 were all travelling in the dog zone when Lola began to whimper then a scuffling sound and what do you know, this tiddler had squeezed between the dog zone and the rear seats and flopped down in the passenger seat!, sleeping all the way home, resting her head on my arm. Once home all 3 had a mad-half hour, performing mega zoomies, Lola relishing the sliding potential of the new artificial grass. She explored every room, nook and cranny but strangely didn't seem interested in the second set of stairs. Lola eats well and was intrigued by Dave and Margot's raw grub from a new supplier, ( link) but I shall keep her on her established diet for now. I think she has been trained to toilet on soil as will wee only on the artificial grass, preferring to poo on my perriwinkle. She eventually conked out...she's either awake or asleep, no inbetween. A couple of accidents in the night but no problem thanks to the amtico. We were at The Vet by 8.10 where she was given a thorough check over and is as fit as a flea*, her spaying is Tuesday. I'll continue with her eye drops, Penny. * Advocate today, Drontal in a couple of days time. She weighs just under 11 kgs. I'll measure her tts when she's awake next. She's a little clingy at the moment but that's to be expected as she is a baby afterall and everything is new to her. I remember Jenny and Christine's sage advice to be aloof and distant and allow her to find her way. She is such a sweet-natured girl who is already part of The Groovy Gang. So different to Margot, who didn't know what a toy was, nor treats but this young whippersnapper has had a good start and seems a well-rounded character. I shall post some pictures and videos later but for now they are sated and snoozing. We'll go for a yomp later.

A little more on Lola. I did try* to measure her and she appears to be 18" tts, small enough to walk under Margot's waist. She likes to explore textures with her mouth, afterall she is a baby. She loves attention and affection from humans and hounds and on our short walk today, whilst wearing a coat and long line attached to a harness, she was understandably excited to meet other dogs, as she did in The Vet this morning. However, she respectfully greets, no barking nor lunging. Margot and Dave were playing racey-chasey and she was itching to get stuck in! Unusually, they stayed close by as 'minders'. Lola does this 'commando crawl' with her fore legs outstretched, being powered by her hinds, especially if she wants body contact. But it isn't a submissive action, its hard to describe as its more a sidling movement. Another endearing behaviour is her throwing her arms around my neck and she loves to tenderly lick as another sign of affection. No mouthing though. Lola LOVES dehydrated tripe as do Dave and Margot. The stench is utterly repulsive so my Aldi Tripe stash is kept in the garage. Of course Lola followed me and showed great interest in the box. I refuse to handle it so gestured that she could help herself, which she did after watching Dave and Margot. A trip to Pets at Home for her food went well, again politely greeting other hounds and having fun sniffing the assorted bags of goodies. When we arrived home, Dave and Margot looked so happy to see her again although Lola's bed was piled on top of Dave's and he made a swift retreat to sit on both beds with Lola in hot pursuit where she proceeded to sit in the bed with him. Neither would budge so they snoozed together until dinner time with Margot observing from her bed Whilst she relishes her Butchers and James Wellbeloved, I did notice her minor exploration of The DarkSide, ie raw. Apparently, venison is irresistible. To begin with Lola would shadow me everywhere, following from room to room but she's now crashed out with Dave and Margot in the hound boudoir. Oh, and the perriwinkle is taking a pasting...
