She looks really content. The outside world must be very scary for her being blind.

Caution...cute dog! Ok, not so cute with other dogs but I promise she is adoreable. I hope this warning lead and harness gives the right message to other dog walkers. I don't want to put anyone off saying hello to this gorgeous girl but I got fed up with calling across to owners of 'friendly' exuberant off lead dogs that Jemima is blind and gets very fearful/reactive of dogs she doesn't know. It isn't fair to her. She wears her 'blind collar' too and a white muzzle, my next step is to wear a high viz jacket with 'keep away!'on it... I have taken to doing two smaller walks around my crescent or mega early walks up the forest. Now the warmer weather is approaching,Jemima loves to potter around the garden, she always finds her way back in. It's facinating to watch her map her way around. 🤓 I'm pleased to say she is joining in with play times. Izzy, especially is very good with her. So lovely to watch, I will try to capture it at some point to post it here.

It's amazing how well dogs adapt to whatever hand they are dealt. She's doing so well with you and your pack and clearly is very happy and no trouble at all in any environment she knows. You're doing everything you can to lessen the impact of strange dogs suddenly appearing next to her. Let's hope someone will come along soon who will see what a lovely girl she is and want to give her a loving forever home.

Sounds to me like Jemima could do with the kind of home that has a big garden where she can potter around and not bother going out for walks. She would make a fabulous companion for a less mobile person.

Sounds like you are doing a brilliant job with her, can't imagine what life must be like for her when other dogs rush up to her, must be very frightening for the poor girl.

She would make a fabulous companion for a less mobile person. My thoughts exactly. A cuddle companion for an older less mobile person. You are doing a fantastic job Claire and Jemima obviously feels safe with your pack. It is always tricky with less thoughtful dog owners letting their bouncy dog run up to you. To me, if a dog is on lead it's for a reason, you keep you dog away unless the owner says it's okay to approach. Common sense to me but not to a lot of people! 🙃 Hope the harness works.

I really feel every dog should still get out for walks not matter how large the garden is. ..

Hello peeps, just a little update with Jemima. We've established a nice routine with Jemima now. As Betsy and Patch are in their dotage now they can't do such long walks so if I am the lone walker I take them with Jemima around the block. We seldom bump into other dogs but if we see any they are on lead and we can avoid confrontation. This is always a very slow walk as Jemima loves to sniff every blade of grass If I have another pair of hands then I can take her out with Jethro, muzzled and on a long lead. We've had some success in getting her past some dogs without any reaction or just a slight rise in excited energy, I keep her closer to me so she remains under control. We still can't determine which dogs she will react too although smaller dogs seem to evoke less of a reaction than larger breeds. She remains the sweetest dog indoors, even getting some tail wagging which is so sweet.

She sounds such a lovely dog. You can understand her being reactive. It must be so frightening for her to smell another dog but not able to read their body language. You are doing brilliantly with her Claire.
