What a fab update Kaaren. He is very similar to Rowlf but looks to have a longer nose. He sounds a lovely hound.

Afternoon!
Just arrived home from our walk over at Gunpowder Park with Margot and Finn.
Please find the photos attached of a little rest/water stop we took in the shade on the bridle path. Could I have some water, please?
Finn walks amazingly on lead with Margot trotting alongside, he doesn't mind at all that she is able to run free. Finn doesn't pull, nor seems to be lead reactive when meeting other dogs. On our walk we met a yappy Jack Russel who Finn just simply ignored, as well as several groups of dogs led by professional dog walkers.
The one thing we have noticed about Finn is that he detests the hose - what a surprise! And he is also our first experience of a counter surfer.
I have also nicknamed him Flakey Finley, as he appears to have a mild case of doggy dandruff - but that will soon be sorted out with coconut oil.
Keep posted for more updates. Leonie

Lovely, I will be watching this one , it won't be too long before he is plumped up, flea free and looking fabulous. I wish Doug had been at home , who knows . As for counter surfing - he can jump because he tried to jump all 4 paws onto the front window ledge (it is only a very narrow one )

Update: I have been feeding Finn, (Margot and Dave too), little and often. He is on the hunt for food ALL THE TIME and he is so tall that he only has to raise his head to be able to lick anything on the worksurface, including home made apple crumble. He was begging to lick the mixing bowl Yet he is well mannered and doesn't grab at anything. I don't think he has seen proper food for a long time, save for the Holding Kennels offering. Looking at his nails, he has been been trudging the streets for a while He will eat anything, and yes, he is an aficionado of TRIPE His idiosyncracies: He performs a 'lunge' manouevre when peeing on grass which means he wets the feathers of his foreleg but anywhere else, he cocks his leg. When he wants to lie down he literally keels over with an almighty thud. Anywhere. Consequently, he hasn't yet grasped the concept of a soft vetbed or any other more forgiving floor covering, hence he has calouses on his 'elbows' and hind legs. I have yet to hear him bark, but my goodness he can howl, (typical Saluki). Dave was due a bandage change this morning so I took his mainstay, Margot with him, leaving Finn in the care of Leonie. Well, he was making such a din that my neighbour popped her head over the fence to ask if he was hurt in any way!!!! Thus, I am forewarned about his 'Saluki singing ability' post 'nad removal, on Tuesday . Dave has put him in his place a couple of times today with his big shouty bark, where he has been humble and deferential yet Margot is absolutely comfortable with Finn. So much so, that she was roaching in the sunshine, was tentatively approached by Finn and she lay back and encouraged him to er, 'caress' her Quite the strumpet! Dave did not react Margot and Dave are now down for the night and Finn is relaxing beside me.

Not another fail foster or am I barking up the wrong tree? I suspect the dandruff is stress related. Good food and TLC will get him sorted. He is just like Rowlf. Handsome fella

He's gorgeous! I'm sure you know, but you can rub coconut oil on the skin as well as in their food, it's very effective for dandruff. He's going to blossom with you, what a handsome lad!

Fabulous updates, he sounds divine. Haha nothing like a saluki howl to make the neighbours come running, all three of mine have done that at some point or another!! I was also going to say you can rub coconut oil into the skin, its good on those callouses xx

You do Claire. Finn has gone to stay with Michelle for fostering with Chuck. The dynamics were not right between Davey and Finn and Davey needs some rest to recover. As Michelle may be interested in adopting Finn, it seemed right to send him there now before neutering and let him settle for a couple of days before he loses the plums.

Oh wow, the lovely Chuck (Cadbury). I am assuming they lost their other dog, Scooby? Michelle did say they would be looking for a companion for Chuck at some point. I hope it works out, they're a lovely family.
