EEEK! Gawjus! He makes me think of Judy... very similar build and look about him. She was just a darker brindle.

Morning all!
I would firstly like to thank Rod, Claire and Jacqui for helping to save this gorgeous gentle soul and for giving him a second chance at a happy life.
We have already given a name to the boy - meet Finn! He is both smart and obedient as he has learnt his name already.
Once we had said goodbye to Ray and his kennel sister, we drove home and he relaxed into the journey, and also Leonie as he spent a majority of the time pushed up against her. gonads nearly resting on her shoulder. Yes, they are coming off as soon as possible, Tuesday to be exact.
We arrived home and we first introduced Finn to the house, and then allowed Dave and Margot to greet Finn on mutual territory. There was a bit of argybargy in the beginning as Finn tried to dominate both Davey and Margot by mounting them, but this was immediately dismissed and controlled. The hounds now know their place in the pack with us human's as pack leaders.
We had a drink, Finn had a wee and a poo and then we set about showering him because he was a stinker. He now smells of lemongrass - ooh! He thoroughly enjoyed the shower and didn't put up much of a fight in there. After, my daughter gave him a good brush with some leave in doggy conditioner and cut away all the matted dreadlocks. The amount of 'visitors' he was carrying around in his fur was shameful so once his coat was dry I treated him with Advocate and I can certainly vouch for the efficacy of that product. He was literally running alive with fleas but within a couple of hours they were falling away.
Post shower smiles!
After his shower, we fed Finn and he gobbled it down, almost as if he had never been fed before. He had nutriment raw food, he inhaled it virtually. We have also never known a dog to drink so much, he is constantly thirsty!
A much needed trip to The Vet followed. It was immediately apparent that this was a new experience as he was so chilled and relaxed and didn't mind having his temperature taken, nor being weighed, given a general check over, including ears. He had his first immunisation too and he didn't even flinch.
Ok, his stats: Finn is estimated to be 2 years old and measures 27" to the top of the shoulders. He was given a clean bill of health except that he weighs only 22.3 kilos and his body score was a poor 2 out of 10 and the pins of his iliac crest are all too visible as are vertebrae. His skin is dry and scurfy but that will be sorted by the coconut oil we are feeding and with proper nutrition. He is going to be neutered on Tuesday so he will be fed small meals regularly until he needs to fast.
Finn is a stunningly handsome chap with a gentle, willingness to please, temperament. He walks beautifully on the lead and is respectful of Margot when she lets rip off lead. He doesn't seem to recognise a dog treat nor toys however he didn't turn his nose up to the roast chicken after our walk last night. He slept 12 hours overnight in his crate and seemed comfortable to be in his own little bubble. My daughter arrived home from work close to midnight and he greeted her with the biggest waggling tail which vibrated off the metal bars of the crate - very cute!
He is now and is sunning himself flat out on the patio, as is Dave who has been back for a bandage change this morning and he seems to be healing well and the frequency of the dressing changes are eliminating any tissue breakdown.
This young chap needs a forever home...
