We've thought that about him too, he could be greyhound x doberman. Our greyhound gave him the greeting she reserves only for greys. She's never interested in other dogs normally. She'll be 13 next week and even she play-bowed at him today. He is currently on my lap dreaming and snoring having snuggled himself in bless him. He is adorable.

Lovely videos. Phoebe looks like she is so happy to have a new playmate (and, oh my, she is an absolutely gorgeous creature with that tail!). Thank you for taking Floyd - I am so pleased he is safe with SLR and that his life from now on is going to be so much better.

Brilliant videos of three very happy hounds - Phoebe and Floyd in shot and (I would guess) a hugely relieved Kali chillin' on the sofa! just WATCHING Phoebe for a minute has me needing to go and lie down with an ice pack on my head!!!

Friendly funtime foody Floyd is simply adorable, he hasn't put a paw wrong apart from those thundering through the borders and trying to steal my sandwich, but then he is a lurcher His vital statistics are 25kg in weight and rather boney, about 25" to the shoulder and no more than 2 years old at most. Floyd is the closest I'd let Tim get to calling him Dave The Dog. For the music lovers you'll know the connection when I say Floyd as in Pink and Dave as in Gilmour. He actually responds to it too. Tim has slept downstairs with him the last two nights and he's settled straight down to sleep, been quiet as a church mouse all night and totally clean in the house. He loves his food and takes treats so gently, no snatching and grabbing at all and he will eat anything and everything all day long I suspect if he could. He walks nicely on a harness (it will be some time before he can wear a collar properly) and isn't phased by passing traffic when walked along pavements. He was perfect at the vets, trotted in through the door and gave the vet his usual helicopter tail greeting. With a good supply of treats at the sharp end he didn't even notice the microchip going in. Although he wouldn't appear to come with any baggage, his body physically has some healing to do. The weepy injury to his throat is now starting to heal, yesterday it was dripping but today is drying up a little more. On closer inspection there are scabs all around Floyd's neck and those coupled with the open wound lead our vet to think that it wasn't a dog attack that caused them but most probably he was staked out on a chain and for whatever reason had tightened around his throat causing the damage. He is so friendly with every dog he meets I was doubting the attack theory so damage from a chain sounds likely. He has a raspy bark which could be from the sore throat. because of the slow healing he has a two week course of anti bios, I have to clean the neck wound twice a day with maleseb and apply isaderm, he has drops three times a day for an eye infection, there are sores on his feet, bare elbows, worn claws from hard ground, numerous scabs on his body at various stages including two large ones on his back (the previous vets shaved around them so those patches need to grown back as does another patch by his ear). He has also been shaven down his neck (understandable) and on his chest but there are no injuries there so I can only think he must've been in such a mess with the blood from his neck that they had to do it. There is another large lump lower down on his neck that looks like an untreated wound which has become infected. The vet could feel fluid inside it so hopefully the anti-bios will clear it up but if they don't then he will investigate it further when he goes in to be de-plummed. Despite all that he is incredibly affectionate, cuddly, doesn't mind being handled and lets me tend to his needs without any fuss. He had what I suspect to be his first bath bath/shower today, well half of one anyway. He wasn't too keen on it so I kept his harness on as something to hold on to so he couldn't jump out and bathed him from the harness back to the tip of his tail, underneath and down his legs. The water was a little mucky but not too bad although further dunkings will be required to get him fully clean as at the base of his coat in places has something dried/stuck to it, either dirt or blood from before the scabs dried. The front end was done with grooming wipes which he leant in to he enjoyed so much. He smells like an indoor dog now and already his coat is starting to shine He couldn't be persuaded to go in a crate on his first day here but we left it up and nicely padded out and he comes and goes to it freely now. All four dogs chop and change beds and Floyd has been accepted on to the sofa but what he really loves is a lap to snuggle on or the crease of your arm to bury his head in, as my parents discovered when they visited yesterday....Floyd greeted them at the door with his helicopter tail, jumped up at them, leant on them, sat at their feet and shoved his nose in where ever he could but without being rude. He loves people as much as he does dogs and food. As always there are boundaries to check out in a home with an established pack but the slightest lip curl or grumble and Floyd respects the signals. He was an adrenaline pumped pooch full of amour with the girls initially but all that has subsided and other than when he's looning around with Phoebe is completely calm and settled. A rattle of keys or a lead and he's at your side and any sound from the kitchen draws him in instantly Floyd and Phoebe have exhausted each other the last two days. Even our neighbours have commented on how unusually subdued Phoebe seems when she's not careering around the garden, over the rockery and through the borders either in hot pursuit of Floyd or being pursued by Floyd. It's cos she's shattered and a bit like an over-tired child who won't give in to sleep incase she misses something. She's certainly met her match in the roomies department and playing bitey-face or having her legs grabbed. Getting a taste of her own medicine But will our garden survive it?!?! Kali is enjoying a lovely quiet time while those two can't keep still, although last night Kali and even Rosie who is 13 years old in four days joined in the play bowing I'm sure there was more to say but on with some pictures for now. He has some interesting markings.. This is the open wound on his neck.. Let sleeping dogs lie.. The chase is on.. You can see the lump protruding here.. Lovely pearly white teefies.. A bit of meat to be added to those bones.. Come on Floyd! I'm ready to go again!.. There must have been another scab by his eye that's since dropped off leaving a pale pinky patch.. Crashed out in the biggest of the many beds here.. And then he came up on to the sofa and snuggled in for a lovely dream filled softly snoring snooze Rosie isn't one for close contact with other dogs particularly, she will accept it but often gives a look of 'No thanks, this is my space' but when Floyd stepped on to the bed this morning with Rosie already there she didn't even flicker so there they both stayed..(excuse the wall scraping, that was thanks to Phoebe's teeth )..

Brilliant update Sal. I have to say.....I don't see much Saluki in him, but I do agree with your Greyhound x Dobie theory. Whatever he is - he is very handsome indeed. If he has a lot of neck wounds do you think a prong collar may be responsible? Sending more Magic Healing Vibes for the poor boy. Love the videos of Floyd and Phoebe doing zoomies. They do make a great pair, and I'm sure she will make a terrific foster-sister.

Phoebe looks smitten with him. A bit of meat on his bones and he will be a super dog. (If he gets to adoption stage!)

You're probably right Kara....it's just that most of the Salukis I know have very thin pointy noses (not to mention hairy ears!), and that curly-up tail. I'm more familiar with the Greyhoundy-types. Whatever he is made of he does sound like a very lovely easy boy.

Mega blurry screen here, what on earth have u been subjected to gorgeous boy but to then be so trusting of those new to you. It beggars belief what 'people' do to these poor dogs. Thank you so much Sal and Tim, he and phoebe look to be in doggy element. Loads of healing vibes to floyd xxxx
