Rang Dena this morning, but got hubbie. Advised that keeping the dogs apart was not the answer. He is a typical lurcher pup who wants to bark in his friend's face in order to instigate play. This will only last for a few days, and then they will have had fun and settled. He may have been on a higher protein food than we would recommend for a Lurcher pup, but his original owner cannot remember what food he was on. They need to be muzzled, take out and then let off lead to have a run around.
It is always strange when a new dog comes into the house. What is normal for most of us can be really worrying for a new foster. Many of the fosters will now be reading this and nodding. Paxti and Jasper just need to get out there and bond. The barking will subside. Paxti is a pup who has not had much off lead play or training until recently when his owner's son has taken him over.
Hopefully Angie can pop over later and I will be putting a couple of muzzles in the most.
Also, when out on a lead Paxti would be better off wearing a gentle leader (head halti), and I will be posting one of those off too.

Just wanted to thank you all for your support. Sadly not right for Jasper. Patxi is an adorable, intelligent little pup and I look forward to reading about his progress in his new home.

I've just got back from my meet with Simon. Pax was so quiet all the way. We found a pub to park up in near Heathrow. I asked the people sitting outside if it was dog friendly. They said it was, so I got little Pax out. I started to walk into the pub and saw a black dog in there sitting by the bar. As the man outside was saying, "don't worry it is friendly, it's ears went back, it's eyes wide and it ran at us and grabbed poor little Pax by the back barking and snarling. The owner ran over and grabbed it, but it still wanted to get him. Pax was just barking at it. Unbelievable! And.... it was actually wearing a collar and lead that said "FRIENDLY".
I took Pax outside with black dog in tow still going for him, and said to the chap "If I were you I would remove the friendly collar and lead". He replied - "he's never done that before, he is always so friendly! Didn't ask if Pax was ok. I checked him over and he was, but that is another bad experience for him.
I hope the dear little man will get some good experiences soon. He should be with Emma now on his way to Hampshire.

Another ar$€***!!! Why do people always insist their dogs are friendly when they clearly aren't.

I would mention just how very dodgy the location Jenny found to meet up was, if it wasn't for the fact that the place I suggested didn't allow parking any more and it took me several days to find the dog friendly pub...
I've very pleased that Patti, Paxi, Pachxti or Paxti has gone to Emma and family because, 1. I'd have Romi'd the guy, he's gorgeous and 2. they seem perfect. He was relaxing with the withing a minute or two, while we chatted in the car park, as y' do and started wagging and smiling. Plus, they'd not normally be able to foster, so a 2-nighter in the summer hols is a fab opportunity.

What a dreadful thing to happen to poor Pax. These people and their dogs are beyond belief and never step in to help sort it out!

Paxti has met Gem!!!! Oh my goodness! They've not stopped wrestling yet, we've had a few 10 minute stints of time out so that they can both get their breath but then they whine to play again! He is a really lovely boy and Gem seems pretty impressed. He was good as gold with the children in the car on the way back. It's lovely that we are able to help because we would normally be at work / school :-)

Anyway, I hope young Paxti is none the worse for his somewhat eventful day. Well done to all you lovely transporters, and also to his fosterers at both ends of the line.

That was what he needed, a good lurcher play. It will calm down.... eventually. LOL

Goodness me, my blood boiled as I read about Patxi's encounter at the pub. Thanks for looking after him and getting him away from that other dog.
Delighted that he's OK and seems to be having fun. I really do miss him so knowing that he is having fun helps. Shame that thing didn't work out with Dena, hopefully he'll settle down and get lots of love and attention at his new place.

Peace has finally been restored!! After 4 hours of wrestling with the occasional separation I resorted to borrowing a crate from a friend. I'm not familiar with crates but my friend has crate trained their spaniel so gave me a few tips. Came back, popped Paxtis bed in it with a few treats and he has crashed! Gem has now calmed as well. She certainly isn't innocent in all of this, in fact she has been a bit of a floozy!! ;-) I know Paxti has been neutered but there are certainly still a lot of hormones whizzing around his young body. He is a lovely lovely boy with a huge amount of energy and just like my children he looks very angelic when he is sleeping!! Fingers crossed for a quiet night!

He sounds like a playful little chap...hopefully with every bit more energy burned off with Gemma, he'll settle a bit more. Well done Emma and co - I hope he let you all get some sleep. It would be lovely to see a pic/video of Paxti and Gemma together. (And please can someone clear up the pronunciation of his name???)
