041 - CHARLIE - Whippet possibly Deerhound X

Here's Charlie. Abandoned and found scavenging for food. He is painfully thin even after serving his 7 days. Has suffered a few nicks along his way, but is a happy chappie. Charlie has a superb temperament. We can't really date him, but around 3 although he could be younger as he has a lot of dead downy coat in him and is very playful in a lovely way ;D

He is booked in for neutering and teeth descaling on Friday.
An absolute little gem of a lad. At Uncle Barney's at the mo.
Walks like a dream on the lead. Wags for England ;D
A gorgeous little lad, about 24 at the shoulder.

He's a super lad Jean - very affectionate, a real happy chappy with a tail in constant motion, & he's getting on fine with the resident crew.

He does need building up, though, he's very scrawny, & I've just brushed him & his coat is coming out in handfuls. He'll be a really lovely fella once he's in decent condition - a real showstopper!

Charlie is microchipped & vaxed, & as Jenny has said, he'll be going to the vets to be neutered & have his teeth descaled on Friday morning.

Charlie was an absolute poppet on the lead when we went for our evening constitutional - he walked sedately with the two Greys on one side, unlike the Lurcher pair on t'other!

He cannot be said to be sedate when treats such as smoked sausage are on offer, though, & will need to learn some manners.

Having said that, I can't fault him otherwise on our short acquaintance thus far.

He's socialising well with the permanent residents, & seems to have taken a particular shine to Annie.





The pics don't give any real indication of just how bony the lad is - his building up regime will commence with pasta after tomorrow morning's exercise.

Hug duly administered Jayne - he'll happily take all of them that are on offer!

Charlie chose one of the dog beds in the living room to spend the night on, & slept contentedly right through.

Since his spate of attempting to mark everywhere when Mummy Chook first delivered him, he has been clean in the house.

He'll be well fed today, including pasta, but of course he won't be able to have owt after 8.00 p.m. because of his op tomorrow.

Testicles are capable of complicating most things, in my experience. Not that I'm bitter and twisted or anything...

Happily, having examined Charlie, Anil reckons it won't be a major exploration job.

His teeth aren't as bad as we first feared, although there's a possibility that one may need to come out.

The lad weighed in at a meagre 16.7k, but he can look forward to some roast chicken post-op.

OMG just look at that face, it's gorgeous. He needs a good few kilos on him though but he'll soon be back to his right weight and happy too ;D
