Bless her. I think 14 days is optimistic! Little Willow here is flying at the end of the lead 9 days later! Mmm - Zephyr was 10 days and we didn't make that. I'll do my best but I have a feeling she will be goading Zephyr to play by Friday.

No problems last night. THe little princess managed a bit of scrambled egg this morning - she has had her pain killers, so hopefully will enjoy a short walk a bit later.

Just catching up with Poppy's story. It sounds like Zephyr is having a great time with her. Well done Phillipa, it's just the sort of start she needs. I'm pleased she's got through the girlie op OK. Now it's odd on she'll be up pestering Zephyr to play within a couple of days!

Poppy took the last of her post op meds this morning and her scar is looking fine. She is certainly feeling fine and is asking Zephyr to play. The poor boy wants to but I am trying to prevent it - much easier to stop him from responding and he looks at me with his big brown eyes, pleadingly, as he is really beginning to enjoy having her around. Here's a bit of video from her play date last week. s1111.photobucket.com/user/ZephyrsPal/media/WP_20140506_003_zpsc63095a8.mp4.html

Be orsum when let 'loose' to play if Zephyr joins in. I thought he ignored all other dogs/bitches. Only deer being worthy 'play' mates.

She's so cute and I'm not surprised that Zephyr is loving her. He is such a lovely gentle giant and always enjoys meeting other dogs. Looking forward to seeing you all again on Saturday for the Greenham walk.

Poppy has been with me a couple of weeks now, so a quick review of her personality. First off, she is a confident well-socialised little girl, who despite having a largely unknown history, displays no evidence of having been treated badly. She is not overly submissive but she doesn't seem to be very dominant either. She loves People - shows no preference to sex, age; if they are willing to say hello, she is delighted Other dogs - ditto Toys - even if they aren't technically toys (she does like to find something to chew but is (I think) due to her still being young ) Food - not a fussy eater - and she doesn't have a sensitive stomach Playing - she often asks for play and easily holds her own against Zephyr Cuddles - she is very affectionate and likes to snuggled up to you
She needs Training - she is bright enough but I don't see any signs of her having any specific training. I suspect she could also be quite keen on other activities, agility etc. Another dog? - she loves Zephyr and although I think she would be fine as an only dog, she would love to have a companion to play with. Preferably not too old or staid as she may prove to be a bit trying - she won't take no for an answer when she wants a game. Stimulation - she is young and needs a decent amount of exercise a day, certainly at least an hour (although obviously I haven't been able to get her off lead and haring around)
Work in progress Toilet training - we are still having the odd accident in the home although this is improving. Being left - when I first leave there is a bit of barking/yowling but this subsides after a few minutes. I had to leave her for about 3 hours last week and she was fine when I returned - but she was with Zephyr. I haven't left her on her own without Zephyr yet. Chase drive - I haven't had her off lead but she is very alert so I think this may be quite high. I don't see any aggression against dogs (even small ones) but she is very switched on to birds, rabbits, squirrels etc. She is fast and nimble - easily outpacing Crusty on her play date.
Summary Poppy is a little darling. Still quite puppyish and needs work but will make a brilliant pet, affectionate, playful, trust-worthy and easy once she has had a bit of training and settled into a steady situation.

having met little Poppy I can confirm she is an absolutely delightful little girl. Very puppyish and full of affection for everyone and every dog she meets. She's going to grow into the most lovely companion. Phillipa is doing a great job with her, along with Zephyr's help!

I met the lovely Poppy this morning when I took Comet to the start of the Happy Cheese walk. A very pretty and friendly girl who seemed delighted to be meeting lots of new people and dogs. Just a happy young dog who should be a lot of fun to teach and share an active life with. Seeing how happy she looks, it is obvious Zephyr and Phillipa are giving her a great start towards her new life.

Defintely cat friendly. We met one on the pavement during last nights walk - Poppy play bowed to her. (Zephyr's intentions were probably less playful).

Thanks to the WONDERFUL Phillipa Poppy will be staying put, enjoying all the fun and games with her very best friend Zephyr and all the new friends she has made . She is such a lovely dog, I'm sure it wont be long before she has a new home as at least a couple of people who she meets on their walks have already fallen in love with her !

With her being cat-friendly I'm sure she'll be snapped up in no time. I'll feel a bit sorry for Zephyr though when she goes.

Poppy had a day out yesterday. I had to go up to Cambridge so she had a long journey in the car with me and Zephyr. No problems at all although I think she was pleased when we got there. We stopped at my parents for dinner on the way home and she behaved very well. She loved having the chance to look around their garden. She and Zephyr had a play - the first time in a non-confined area. Zephyr is so much bigger, he is a bit too much for her and so the play had to be monitored but she is completely fearless and kept going back to Zephyr for more.
