Boa was rescued by the family trying to re home him.
He is a big bouncy beautiful boy of now 8 months and 25 kilos.
He has a friendly personality and loving and loyal.
The family took him in from a very sad situation and thought that it would be easy to find that perfect home.
But... as lovely as he is ... he is black...he is big and he will get a bit bigger. This is what his relinquishing Rescuer has to say about him...................................................
All I can tell you about how he is with children, is that I work with children at home but because of child protection issues I cannot post any of these, but I hope you will understand that it would be the worst thing I could do to have a dog that is likely to be harmful to a child and would put my 20+ yrs reputation at stake which I am not prepared to do x
There are 2 areas that need work on with Boa which we are trying to work on with him :
He does if he sees another dog on a lead pull on the lead, cry and bark if he sees them ahead of us or across a field or road, once he is near them he is fine but we are still working on this. I have a behaviourist friend who has been working with all sorts of dogs for 30years and her opinion is it is not aggression but excitement to want to play as puppies do. She has 3 Whippets a Whippet Cross and a Staffy of her own. She does the reward training which I truly believe in and no harsh treatment as of the old school. By the way any other time Boa walks well on a lead.
The 2nd is his Separation Anxiety which has to be dealt with slowly over the course of time which we are working on, other than that he is a delight very loving likes to lick you to death, he will eat around other dogs happily here with my other 2 and responds well to you telling him No etc.
So my opinion considering his bad start to his life is that with love care and attention to these couple of areas he will make a beautiful dog in fact he already is. If after we have talked about where we should go from here with Boa...............................................................................................
So,
We are looking for someone around most of the time. Another dog in the family would be lovely as he has such a lot of love to give to playmates. Perhaps a laid back calming bitch.
An experienced Lurcher home who understand the bargy play ways of youthful young male lurchers.
And we are looking for it to be forever.
Please only apply if you have the time and love to give to Boa.
He in turn will reward you with unconditional love forever.
