We had an urgent today to bring in Ozzy. He was in danger of being found by the wrong sort of people and so we agreed to bring him in. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is a large boy, and cat, child and dog friendly. Ozzy is currently in foster in Suffolk. I am sure his foster family will update you shortly.

Ozzy is here with us (Mike and Cath) in Suffolk. From initial appearances - no trauma or major behavioural issues apart from trying to hump all the cushions. Very playful, inquisitive and occasionally boisterous. Rather fearful / respectful of Cracker and Charlie but trying to engage Cracker in games which Cracker is definitely not relaxed enough for and he definitely isn't into being climbed on!!!!!! If he's a whippet cross then I'm a banana! Although whatever he is there is too much of him at the moment so I could be wrong. He's about the same height as Cracker so about 25" to the shoulder and about twice as wide. I suspect he's been somewhat spoilt - he's been following me around begging for a bit of my carrot. He's a bit anxious / whiny and obviously unsettled. He's got a couple of superficial cat scratches on his nose and what appears to be a larger scar. Basically he needs: fitness, entertainment and exercise.

Well, he looks like an overfed whippie!! Has the look that Blue had when I fostered him and he was 4kg over weight at the time. His toes look Whippie too!
Rather a good looking chap though xx

Phew! Yep Whippet and Whippet x greyhound, but a little on the overweight side. I'm sure with some fun and exercise he will shape up into a beautiful boy.

Will do!
We'll soon get the weight off him.
He's a nice boy. House-trained. He has some basic commands like sit.
Had a very good night - slept right through in his crate.
Once he has settled down he's going to be an easy foster.
One thing though - as you probably know Cracker can occasionally be verbal. But he's very happy to join in with other dogs. I've got the makings of a choir here now!

Sue is right - he reminds me of Blue too! But the weight soon came off with Blue, just nice and steadily. Have fun Ozzy!

Shall I change yourname on your avatar Cath. When they go overweight they tend to take a slightly bull look on them. His relinquishing owner was adament about his makeup.

Ooooooh what a lovely boy. Really feel for the lady that had to give him up, so very sad but I hope she feels a little better knowing that he's in safe hands. So he's available for fostering then is he?

That's up to Jenny. He isn't any major problem here but Cracker would much rather be left alone. Also - I'm aware that I am very close geographically to the relinquishing owner - he is already registered at my vet practice.
It could be embarrassing for the relinquishing owner if we bump into people he knows - she doesn't need that on top of everything else.

Calm evening with one very tired dog! He's not very fit - puffing and panting after quite a short time. Not a great deal of recall there at the moment...
He saw my cat on the way back from the vet and attempted to launch himself through the car windscreen. He was anxious and unsettled though so may not mean what I think it means.
His relinquishing owner phoned today to see how he is and we've reassured her that he is fine.

Ozzy is still a bit anxious and seems to have had little in the way of socialisation. Combine this with "I want to be alone" Cracker and he's having a crash course!!
He walks very nicely on a lead and his prey drive does not appear to be too high. However, moving targets do get attention and he arrived with a couple of cat swipes scratched across his nose.
He's definitely losing some of the weight - mainly due to the fact that he is getting loads of exercise and he isn't too keen on either Chappie complete or Chappie tinned.
He is very anxious about being "handled" - ie, feet inspected etc but we had a small breakthrough today when he allowed Mike to dry him off after a walk. He needs his confidence building up on this.
