I've just taken him for a half hour on lead walk along the country lanes. I've allowed him to sniff etc. so he gets used to his surroundings. Just come back in and he immediately peed on the floor - assistance please

Oh bless him!
If he's anything like Arthur, going out is too exciting and he doesnt have time to pee completely....maybe only a few leg c**k squirts?? Which means theres still a bladder half full at least!
Arthur has been great lately...I watch him like a hawk and can judge by the amount he has done when he's likely to need to go out again. I could write a book about Arthurs bladder.
Thats all I can suggest...watch and note!

I have heard it said that a well balanced dog won't pee on a walk (migration) so might be worth letting him amble around your garden when you get back from a walk and see what happens.

Thanks for the ideas - the trouble is that he's not very keen on going out into the garden. I imagine that he's maybe been in a house when very young and was then thrown into the garden - never to return to the house. I've tried going out with him and if he does a pee or a pooh then praising him to highest heaven and giving him a tgreat - but he just doesn't seem to get the idea

Dusty is getting used to Oakley now she's actually letting him share her sofa - on her terms of course!

I've tried going out with him and if he does a pee or a pooh then praising him to highest heaven and giving him a tgreat - but he just doesn't seem to get the idea How about making going outside a positive experience....a game...whats his favourite toy or passtime? A squeaky? A frisbee? Maybe a stuffed Kong or something like that. Use it to make the garden a fun place not a punishment place. Wrap up and play with him out there for a while and he'll soon get used to seeing the garden as fun. If you stay there and he has company, he'll soon start to feel secure outside Im sure. Any tension and pee wont be forthcoming! I hung stuff on the trees and Arthur would run round the garden barking at them as they blew around.....old CDs are great fun apparently! Now as soon as anyone goes out, he want to go and keep them company! Im sure he only needs time and for you to enjoy the cold weather a bit more!! Oh dear!

No accidents today! I just think he doesn't like the dark - he's also a bit nervous when he's outside - probably thinks he may not get in again. I don't shut him out, I go with him - just doing it more frequently at the moment until he gets the idea. As you may have guessed I luffs this boy a lot

No two ways about it but I hate the snow - however not so bothered at the moment because it means that no-one is going to come and take Oakley away ;D

:-*Just back from the vet. She took Oakleys stitches out and checked his heart, ears, nails, teeth etc. All fine. He has to go back just after Christmas for his second jabs. One of her receptionists may be looking for a lurcher after Christmas (pointed her towards SLR) and a lady in the waiting room took SLR details as she would like to foster On top of all that when we went to pay the vet said there was no charge for today

Silent night - then Oakley and Dusty had me up at 5:45 ! They are now fast asleep again Still trying to teach Oakley to sit - although he does it naturally - he won't do it when you tell him to. Not much progress with recall as haven't been able to go out the last two days. He's very good in the garden and races around with Dusty - I take every opportunity to call him to me and give him a treat so we'll see. He always wants to be with you, touching you etc. when he's on the sofa - he may be OK as an only dog as hes still quite needy

Took all 3 to the forest this morning - Oakley off lead again - he disappears for a bit but then returns with all paws flailing. He doesn't c**k his leg yet so we don't think he's a year yet - more like 8 months? The vet thought he was younger than a year too. Back to the vets on Thursday for his 2nd vaccs.
