Again, another Lurcher Caroline has informed us about in Somerset mixed rescue kennels. He is having treatment for his skin complaint, but is well and truly used, poor boy. Here's Caroline's write-up on him. If you feel you can offer poor Wispa some love and a safe forever home please let me, Mimsmum know and I will pass on your details to the kennels. ...................................................................... DARK BRINDLE CHUNKY? WHIPPET/STAFFIE AT KENNELS IN SOMERSET The kennels take dog warden strays and try to rehome them, really out of the kindness of their hearts. They attend to their veterinary and dietary needs, but have no funds for neutering. WISPA seems to be a good natured chap ?3-4 yrs old DEFINITELY NOT CAT FRIENDLY and thus may be dicey with small furries and possibly small dogs. He has had to have part of an ear removed and has a lumpy end-bit of his tail. He is quite skinny and has been treated for a skin condition-I suspect he has been worked and worked quite hard. I think he would need an experienced sight-hound owner, but he has all the makings of a lovely dog being very friendly to people and is a stunning dark brindle

Hi Folks I visited Wispa today at the kennels-he remains definitely not cat friendly, but did not go ballistic at the cat which is an improvement. He is a nice chap, but has obviously been very neglected. I spoke to the lady who helped to catch him in Somerset who took him to her vet for a check up, before having to hand him to the dog warden as her own rescued greyhound is not too well at present. They took skin scrappings and could find no mites-which is good, but does not 100% mean he is not contagious. He was very waggy with the female staff and fine with a chap who was visiting with his family, but he did bark a bit at an older chap who looked directly at him, so I expect somebody has been nasty to him at some point. He is being kept in the isolation unit at present, just in case he might be infectious. I took him for a walk and he was of course very excited and pulled quite a bit. He shied away from sheep in a local field. I spent a little time with him in the shop they have there giving him a little bit of a massage on the bits that aren't sore and a cuddle and was rewarded by a good face licking. This little chap has real potential, but I think he would need someone who is used to ex-working lurchers and who would be willing to do some training with him. He responded relatively quickly to kindness bearing in mind that he is in isolation. I will try and go to see him tomorrow. cheers Caroline

;D ;D ;D ;D Hi-just phoned the kennels as I was not able to get there today and they have rehomed WISPA to a family with older children and with someone who is at home most of the day- I am sooooo thrilled for him and please please please let it be a success!!!! Sadly I won't know where he has gone, as they do not divulge that info. I asked the person I spoke to to let Jane (my contact who has a rescued greyhound) to let me know if they have anymore sighthounds that pitch up there, as with your permission I can post them onto Southern lurcher Rescue, which gives them more of a chance of getting an appropriate home for life all the best Caroline and the lurcherlouts!!
