How was Henry's first night? Hope he's being a good boy. Well.........he's not quiet is he?? He went to bed fine, then 1 oclock he decided was playtime, er no Henry, so a very firm no, and we sulked/slept til 4 when we decided it really WAS playtime and this stupid 2 legger should be told in no uncertain terms, yeah thanks Mr Huckett. Another NO and we got to 6.30 which I decided was more acceptable. He's just so excited by everything at the moment, he watches every move with such interest, and yes I have trodden on him a few times, as he's alwayxs next to me. So today is, back off little man day. I have his crate inbetween the living room and family room, so he can see me through his crate, and has the run of the family room and kitchen, but is not directly with me. Why he loves humans so much is way beyond me, after what some have done to him. At the moment I'd say an experienced home is a must for him, bright is not the word, with or without another dog, I dont think matters so much, as long as he is well socialised

Do you think those flappy feet of his are that shape because he keeps on getting them trodden on? He's such an intelligent little fellow, what does Freya think of him?

They'll stay that shape if he doesn't mind out of my way!!! It's my fault, not like I cant hear him coming!!! Freya adores him, she shoves him around with here, and pouces on him to play, much to his delight. My house is not a quiet one today

You deserve a medal Helen, what a boon that Freya loves him, at least she can keep him occupied and tire him out for you. I'm sure tonight will be better, he just needs to understand some boundaries and get into a routine. He's a very clever little fellow, I think he'll learn quickly what is expected of him.

He's doing loads better in his crate already Kate, he's chosen to crash in there twice now, and no barking or whining either.

I love this little fella, he's gorgeous! I've got a furry coat (dalmation styley) which I'd love to send through for him, if you like? PM me your address and I'll get it in the post Monday.

Well I'm pleased to report, a much better night from Mr Huckett He went to bed well, and stayed there til 5.30 when Aoife got everyone up as she is now ill We're still having a 'back off little man' day, and it really seems to be working, he's quite happy now left with a dog (usually Freya) or on his own with a toy to amuse himself with, and doesn't yelp or shout at all now when he cant see me. He's more than happy in his crate to sleep, taking himself there when he's tired. He wont have the run of the house for a while yet, but he has out the back, and is quite happy with that. I'm sure he's a little more upright on his feet today too He's very good with his toileting, pooing and weeing on his pads every time, normally choosing the one by the back door, which is great Clever little sausage

That's great news Helen, what a clever little chap. I can't wait to see pictures of him recovering his strength and growing a coat. You're doing a brilliant job, well done.

Well, what can I say??? I have a SUPERSTAR!!! This back off technique is REALLY working, and he's such a good boy, bed at 11, woke up this morning when I went to get him at 7.30, not a peep out of him. One wee, done nicely in the middle of his pad, and a poo by the back door on his pad when he came out of his crate. I adore this little chap, he's so smart and funny, and has the hugest heart I have ever met in a dog, and I mean that most sincerely. Life is just great for him, and I cant thank Kate enough for getting him out. He's eating well, still acts like he's starving, but this will stop I'm sure, and he definately doesn't look so scarily thin this morning. I'm still adament he needs an experienced home, obvioulsy with someone around most of the time, he adores company, but his new Mummy/Daddy will need to draw the line, because he becomes very dependant very easily. The groud work is done now, and I cant see any reason this shouldn't continue! His skin is getting loads better, I'm going to bath him again later with his special shampoo I love spending time with him, he just makes me laugh constantly, but now he accepts I dont need to be with him all the time What a little star
