He is a stunning boy for sure. What a difference in his skin, poor lad that looked so sore. Can totally understand if you do fail ... gasp, I'll be trouble for saying the 'f' word! You are definitely on the naughty step young Sally.

Bradley is doing well. Can be very stuburn when it suits him (as can Jessie). Will insist on jumping up to greet you, and we are trying to stop this as he has very big paws, and they can hurt if he catches your face or bare arm. He seems to have trouble with his throat, and if he gets out of breath he sort of chokes and gasps his breath, then snorts it out like a horse, sometimes does it after he has eaten. Very difficult to describe. As long as he gets no worse we will have the vet look down his throat, when he's under for his appendage removal next week.

The throat could just be a soft pallet thing. A lot of dogs get it. Esme here gets it, particularly just after eating her food. Now I wonder who taught him jumping up

The soft palate thing, could, if you're unlucky, be "laryngeal paralysis". One of my adopted hounds, Musket, who went to the bridge in 2007, had a bad case of this - after over 2 months of x-rays, antibiotics, blood tests etc, to try to find a cause for his worsening tiredness, coughing and difficulty eating etc, he was eventually referred to a canine ENT specialist. Winchester way I think. The lady specialist vet, took about 10 seconds to diagnose it. Although she did say it was the first case she had ever seen in a greyhound. He had to have a partial laryngeal tieback, to stop one of his vocal cords from being permanently almost closed. Another time Pet Plan saved our bacon, it was very expensive and delicate surgery. He also had to learn to eat and drink again, and could only have a loose collar, and be walked on a harness, permanently, after that. But it saved his life. Angie

He,s off to the vet tomorrow for his appendages removal. I'm wincing already!!!. It's alright when you girls take your dogs to be done but us menfolk have differrent feelings about it. I remember when I had the "snip" many years ago the doctor wrapped it all up in dressings and Carole thought it hillarious. And seeing me trying to peel the plaster off what was by then stubble had her in fits of laughter saying she wanted to yank if off quickly. No Bl**dy Chance!!!!!. I laboriously snipped the hairs one bye one.

Don't worry Mick, Anill knows that we DON'T want dressings on the dogs. No sticky to peel back there I have a little job for you tomorrow. Anil has some boxes of puppy food going spare that we can have. Would you mind picking it up.

Update Bradley is fine after his op. Was pleased to leave the vets and quickly hopped into the car. A little drowsy Thursday evening. But yesterday back to his normal lay back self. Anil did put a wound dressing over the stitches, but he's made no attempt to pull it off. I have not even seen him lick it. He is so good and lay back. Just takes everything in his stride. Will attempt to play with a toy occasionally but then Dexter always wants what any body else has got so he just lets it go. He's not been left completely alone yet so I don't know how he will react to that.( he,s quite happy to be left with the other dogs if we go out though). Back to Anil on Monday for check.

All done and dusted. Bradley has had his stitches out and has got the all clear. He's been off the lead again for the first run after he's opp and really enjoyed chasing with Jessie and Dexter. We have realized that we are not good foster parents. After our initial thought of failure, And Jenny's suggestion to take time and think about. We have decided that we are absolute failures. Bradley has settled in so well with the the rest of the pack and is such a good dog (apart from the occasional shredded letter or plastic bag) he has been a poppet. He has decided we ain't all that bad and has deemed himself to be part of the family having secured his seat on the sofa.(used to be my seat). Suppose I should change my name to "fourdogdad" now ;D
