Ronnie seems to be doing really well after his little boy op however being on lead walks is driving him nuts.... as it is me We struggled on Sunday as all the other boys we off running around and all he wanted to do was be with them so we had lots of pulling and barking and lunging on the lead and he's a strong lad so my back certainly felt that by the evening So, different tact last night and I took him out with just Shylo, both of them on leads and we had a lovely long walk around the local area. We did some road walking first to see if we could get him to calm down and walk nicely on the lead - a handful of treats worked well in getting him to pay attention to me and he was doing pretty well by the end of the walk. We also met lots of dogs and he was very well mannered with each and everyone of them. We met a gorgeous lurcher boy called Stanley who I've never seen in the area before and got talking to his mum.... I tried to persuade her that Stanley & Ronnie would make a lovely pair I think she thought I was a bit nuts but did say she'd tell her husband about him I really want to see Ronnie settled in his forever home soon - he's such a lovely boy I can't understand why nobody is interested in him He's really not getting the best out of life being with us as for some reason Dexter just doesn't get on with him and is bullying him Thankfully Ronnie is so laid back he ignores him most of the time but that can't be making him happy Don't get me wrong Dexter isn't hurting him at all he's just a baby so is mainly just a pest but where as the other dogs will tell Dexter to get lost Ronnie just allows him to bully him! Come on people, please enquire about this boy - you honestly couldn't get a more loving easy dog

I really don't understand why people are not queuing up for this boy as he is adorable and so affectionate. Jim and I have arranged a SLR fund raising event, and with Ronnie the star I am sure someone will see what we see Karla

I really don't understand why people are not queuing up for this boy as he is adorable and so affectionate. As Tina wrote in the 'Crikey SO many dogs' thread in Chat: “I stop looking at the dogs needing homes thread for just a while and there seems to have been an explosion of dogs on there. Times are tough it would seem.” During the time SLR has been in existence all rescues seem to be bursting at the seams at this time of year, for whatever reason, & so many of the dogs looking for their forever homes are utterly gorgeous.

I know what you mean Barney, there are just so many gorgeous homeless hounds about at the moment and not enough good homes available Ronnie is such an adorable muppet and he'll get nothing but love, kindness and affection here for as long as it takes The perfect home is out there somewhere, I know it I do keep talking to everyone I meet and once they've had a Ronnie snuggle everyone says how lovely he is. He had so much fun playing with a dog called Marley last night and he was so gentle it was a joy to see ;D He does make me howl with laughter when he runs as he's so un-cordinated with his bandy legs and he has absolutely no breaks and likes to use me to stop His recall is brilliant and where I've been taking him out with just Shylo this week he's had some off lead time all by himself (Shylo stays on lead otherwise she runs home ) and has been coming back to me everytime I called - even when he was playing with Marley I could call him away Shylo & I were a little mean to him last night as he was sniffing around over the creek and we hid from him when he wasn't looking The poor poppet flew around in circles a couple of times and then hunted us down - the delight on his face when he found us was priceless

Elaine delivered Ronnie here safely about half an hour ago, & he was welcomed by the girls & Rory with much sniffing & wagging of tails.
Ronnie was ravenous, & made straight for the bowls of dry food in the kitchen, since when he & Rory appear to have taken a real shine to one another - the tail that was firmly between Ronnie's legs on arrival is now exercising at a rate of knots!
There's currently much dashing about by the boys, upstairs & then down, followed by trips to the garden, & I'm just letting them get on with it while Ronnie finds his feet.
The whole tribe have just cornered me in the kitchen, & I had to buy my way out by means of delving into the supply of Markies that was replenished at PAH this morning. ;D
Goodness knows where everyone's going to sleep tonight, (or indeed if anyone will get any shuteye ).
Sincere thanks to each & every one of the SLR members who rose to the challenge & facilitated Ronnie's journey today - you're all Superstars!

Hallelujah!! - the boys have just run out of steam. Ronnie decided that the duvet next to me in the office might be worth a try:
Then, just as he was settling down, along came an interruption which took the form of No. 1 foster dog, who had decided there was still some time left to play :
The play session wasn't destined to last long, however, since both boys were obviously knackered from their earlier shenanighans! :

Ronnie took a little while to settle last night – after much pacing around he decided to join Rory & me on the big settee, but around 2.00 a.m. he took himself off to the dog bed in the lounge, where he spent the rest of the night undisturbed.
The hounds had a slightly curtailed pre-breakfast walk, partly because it was spitting with rain, & partly because of the logistics involved. I decided to take the two foster boys out with Annie first, then took Ronnie out with Erin & Winnie. Ronnie pulled like a train on both his walks, which I guess was down to excitement & the plethora of new scents to be discovered.
Breakfast was uneventful – I fed Rory & the three girls in the kitchen as usual & put Ronnie’s bowl down just outside in the hall. Ronnie was once again ravenous, & he gave a small growl when Annie wandered out to see what was happening. Once he’d finished his own breakfast Ronnie joined the rest of the crew in ensuring that there was nowt edible left in any of their bowls.
The two boys then commenced playing together, tearing round the home-kennel like Mexican jumping beans on speed, & I’m obviously going to be fully occupied replacing all the mats in their correct position.
Ronnie & Rory are thus far getting on like a house on fire, & when they’re not engaged in playing I usually have two permanent shadows. The girls have seen it all before, so when the lads get rumbustious they just take themselves off elsewhere for a bit of peace & quiet.
Exploring after breakfast this morning:

I'm pleased he's being a good boy Barney. I swear that lad could eat for England he always seemed hungry no matter how much food he ate bless him... I honestly don't think he'd ever been on a lead before he came to us so the pulling is a bit of a nightmare - however his recall is very good and he'll come to both a whistle & his name, especially when you've got treats in your pocket I took some photo's of him last night before he went on his way with Mark so I'll upload those later and post them here. I'm delighted that he's getting on well with Rory, he definitely needed that slightly older role model to show him the ropes

Thanks for such a wonderful update Barney, I am so glad that Ronnie finally settled and I new he wouldn't be put off his food The piccies are great and it's lovely to see him playing with Rory, he really is a friendly dog It was so special to have a walk with Karla and Ronnie last night, and I know that we all got very upset but it was for the best for Ronnie and Dexter. Thank you so much to Mark, Elaine and Barney for dropping everything to help out in this situation. SLR Rocks
