Now there's not many people who can claim to have slept with the Kray twins... We dropped off to sleep last night with all the dog happily settled and snoozing on their various beds around the bedroom - Ronnie has his very own world cup dog bed Anyway, I stirred about an hour later to find both Reggie & Ronnie snuggled up between Mark & I didn't have the heart to move them as they were both sparko and looked adorable.... Ronnie seems to have mastered the stairs now ;D I went down this morning and all the others followed me but he stood at the top crying so I opened the back door for all the others and went back to help him down only to find him almost at the bottom having done it all by himself... what a clever lad! Won't be long before he's bounding up and down them xx

Are you starting a gangster collection? Can't wait to see who's next. Al Capone? The Dogfather? Ha ha well Vinnie has got to be the Dogfather I definitely think we'll be working our way through the gangster names especially if we keep getting stray boys with no names as fosters Al Capone, Bugsy Malone, Bonnie & Clyde... the list is endless ;D The more we get to know Ronnie the more I'm convinced he's only a baby he so desperately wants to play with Dexter & Reggie but he's a little bit awkward and unsure of himself so just sort of rolls over infront of them with his mouth open and gnaws on their legs and stuff..... because of his legs he's a bit of a klutz too and keeps tripping himself up as he's running around he's totally mastered the stairs now and flies up and down them normally ending up in a heap at the bottom as he has no brakes!! I've got a week off work now (yippee!!!) so I'm going to be taking him up to Manor Farm to the enclosed field and see what his recall is like. He desperately needs a good run to get some of that energy out of him and the more he's staying on the lead the more frustrated he's getting We had a mini accident whilst out last night where he grabbed at Dexter as he was running past and Dex ended up with a bit of a hole in his side It was a totally innocent lunge from Ronnie and it was all my fault as I should of had more control of him, he was on a long lead and getting over excited about Dexter, Reggie & Dylan running that when they ran past he just tried to join in. I should have pulled him out of their way but I was to busy watching what my boys were doing and Dexter collided with Ronnie's open mouth. Thankfully the wound was fairly minor as it was just a puncture from a tooth, no tear or anything. We took Dex home and flushed out the wound with a saline solution and put manuka honey in the hole and this morning it seems to be starting to dry out and scab over nicely so no vet trip thankfully. Dexter doesn't seem at all bothered by it either and it happily playing with them all today as if nothing happened.

Looks like they had great fun. ;D We were at Manor Farm this morning too - hiding in the woods cos its much cooler under the trees. And paddling in the river too of course. Probably going down again later when it cools off a bit and all the "weekenders" have thinned out a bit. Angus does like to raid their picnics.

Lovely updates Karla. Sorry Dex came off with a nip though. Do you need me to send a muzzle down to you for ronnie? I'm sure that Ronnie won't be around long, I am making it my mission of the week to get him sorted. He can have his neutering at his new home and the Rescue can sort it. Not that a new home has come up yet Just Mummychook worrying.......

No worries about a muzzle Jenny we have a spare one for him. To be honest though he doesn't really need it as off lead he's as good as gold just very excited. He's definitely no more than a year old and full of life, all he wants to do is run and play His recall is coming on nicely and he's starting to watch for us when we're out and about now although he is very interested in his surroundings too so only short periods off lead at the moment. A couple of things that are coming to light with him. First his need for guidance - he's very unsure and is constantly testing the water with things and like reassurance a lot. He also finds comfort in the other dogs especially Vinnie so I think it would be nice for him to be homed with an older calmer dog who'll take him under their wing and teach him all about life as a pampered pooch, male or female he really won't mind Second I don't think he's going to be cat friendly or small furry friendly. He certainly doesn't like chickens and was howling at Gilly's chooks last night so we had to put a blanket up over the gate He is however small dog friendly and happily played with the JRT's He is a beautiful dog, with a gorgeous temperament who everyone who meets him will fall in love with. I honestly don't think he'll have too much trouble being re-homed as he doesn't have any issues. We've cleared his worms and have upped his food this week so hopefully he'll start putting weight on and be strong enough to be neutered, whether that's here or in his new home.

Ronnie is such a wonderful dog and is already starting to shine, as Karla said he does need to put some weight on and when he is not so boney I will give him a good groom out. Karla and Mark came over Sunday for the football , and even though Ronnie is an entire male , he posed no threat or silly humping to my pack. He was quite submissive and was looking at Karla for reassurance, by the end of the evening Ronnie was very relaxed and settled I agree with Karla that Ronnie would benefit from being homed with an older dog, male or female and that he defiantly doesn't like chickens ;D Come on guys, this is one beautiful dog and he is so very handsome Gilly and Jim x

Time for a quick update on Ronaldo me thinks We've had a few ups and a few downs in the last week with this chap bless his heart but I think we're finally settling and he's really coming out of his shell It became apparent last weekend that Ronnie was having issues with going to the toilet, he would only go if it was on a bed and refused to go out on a walk or in the garden Being that it was so hot we had lots of dogs beds out in the garden and to start with we just figured he didn't understand that the beds weren't part of the garden but then when we moved them inside he sought them out so as to wee on them. Well I can happily say that after a full week of working on this I do believe we have cracked it and he seems to be totally dry in the house and pee's where ever in the garden & now out on walks... hoorah!! Secondly he is totally obsessed with food and was becoming a master thief & counter surfer after loosing too many sandwiches/loaves of bread/bacon of the grill and dog treats from my lovely jar on the windowsill which resulted on the lid being smashed to a thousand pieces foster mummy got a little frustrated and tried to palm him off on Gilly & Jim Anyway, we have been working on patience and manners all week and he does really seem to be calming down with food and is listening to a no when he's looking like he's about to steal He can now be fed with the other dogs rather than being banished to another room as he knows which bowl is his and respects the others food bowls and they his. His lead walking leaves a lot to be desired but to be totally fair on him I don't think he was ever walked on one before I've taken him out on his own a few times this week and he's coming along really well. When he's on his own he's fine (although weaves quite a bit ) it's when he sees other dogs that he gets too excited and just wants to be with them! We've been walking hard on his recall and it's pretty brilliant to be fair 8-)He loves loves loves running with Reggie & Dexter and all the while he's with another dog he doesn't stray too far. We went up to Hundred Acre woods last night with Gilly & Jim and all their guys and he was off lead 80% of the time and had a blast with them and returned every time he was called - such a good boy He definitely loves being with another dogs so I would not want him rehomed as an only dog it just wouldn't be fair to him. All in all Ronnie is a beautiful boy with so much love to give - he loves a cuddle and a lean and doesn't have a bad bone in his body... He really is going to make someone a fabulous pet. I'm sure there is loads more I could say about him but my brain is frazzled tonight so I'll just leave you with a few pictures of the gorgeous boy for now... Drop dead gorgeous Shylo allowing him to share her sofa Happy boy.. ;D

I've been wondering how this stunning lad is getting along. Sounds like he's been more than a little challenging but the poor boy no doubt had time to pick up some bad habits fending for himself Sure he's in the right place to learn what's right and wrong and I look forward to a snuggle or two with Ronnie next time we see you .

The lovely Ronnie has been with us two weeks now and I think he's settling in beautifully. His true character is really starting to come out and he's a little monkey His gorgeous face is so expressionate and he looks you directly in the eye when you talk to him almost like he's glued to every word (should of got myself a husband like that ) He absolutely loves a cuddle and if allowed will sit next to you on the sofa with his head on your lap. We got the first roach out of him last night which was a joy to see..... unfortunately the camera was in the other room He seems to love the contact of another dog when he's sleeping too and specifically finds a spot next to one of the others to settle down in. He's slotted in brilliantly with our routine and knows when it's breakfast time, lunch time, walk time, dinner time & bed time He sleeps in a bed on the floor at the end of our bed quite happily and most mornings I have to give him a nudge to get up otherwise I'm sure he'd stay there as long as he possibly could. He definitely like to be with you and follows me around most of the time and if I'm not there then he follows Mark. He's fine to be left although he does like to chew things so we make sure everything is out of reach before we go out. Obviously when left he's got the company of our dogs so not sure what he'd be like being left totally alone. If he's had a good walk I'm sure he wouldn't be a problem, he does get bored quite easily being such a young dog though so if he's going to be left I would suggest leaving things for him to do such as a filled kong or hidden treats etc. He loves toys and really enjoys playing with my Dexter & Reggie - albeit very noisily His lead walking is really coming on but he is just so excitable and wants to get there now and pulls quite a bit so a halty might be a good idea to train this out of him. When he's walking next to one of mine he seems a lot happier and doesn't pull so much. His recall is going well and if you have treats in your hand he sticks to you like glue he loves a good run with other dogs and when they come back so does he. We are muzzling him when we let him run free as he does try to catch the dog in front and we've had one little puncture wound on Dex so far we don't want to risk anymore. He has absolutely no problem with the muzzle in-fact he offers his nose up for it so I'm inclined to think he's worn one before. He doesn't need to be muzzled when on regular walks through woods etc it's just when he's got lots of space for running. When Ronnie came to us his skin was really quite bad and the vet was concerned that he had fox mange. We gave him a dose of stronghold but after a week it didn't seem to be getting any better so he went for skin scrapes. I got the results back yesterday and I'm happy to report that his skin is all clear ;D ;D I've got some epismooth shampoo that we are using regularly on him to help with the itching and irritation of his skin and we are now really seeing an improvement in him. Ronnie really is a cracking dog and would make someone a wonderful family member. I'd love him to be re-homed locally so that we could see him blossom

I'm doing my best. Everytime someone pats my dogs and says how lovely they are I say "Thanks, do you want one? Any size, any colour." They look at me as if I'm mad. Can't think why.

Lovely update Karla. Have you ever tried Yumega Plus oil? I use it for Millie during the winter months as the central heating dries her skin and she scratches herself raw, I saw a real improvement using it every day, I have stopped at the mo but will start again in September. It may help with Ronnie, you can get it at PAH £12.99. I really wish it was this time next year, because I would have snapped Ronnie up as he is so lovely, but it is too soon after getting Ginny. I really hope that he finds a forever loving home soon. You, Mark and the pack are doing a great job (as always!)
