Finnegan was picked up as a stray 12 days ago and we were approached to take him by the holding kennels he was in. Unfortunately it has taken us 5 days to find him a place. He has put on some weight at the kennels so you can imagine how pitiful he was when he arrived. He is scared and hand-shy, especially with men at the moment. Also a very quiet dog who just sat in the back of the car and watched me driving the whole way to Barneys. About 27inches at the shoulder. and around 18 months old and in desperate need of some peace and some tlc so he can come out of his shell. Hopefully, will be staying with Keith and Brenda. I just wanted to wrap him up and cuddle him. He liked my cuddles Here he is. He has such a sad but kind face. Let's hope he can find some peace now and some love.

Poor little mite has such a lovely face, and is such a timid little dog by the look of it. He must have had a hell of an existence by the look of him. But never mind now he is in the care of SLR things can only get better for him. And its so nice that Keith has agreed to foster for you, I am sure he will be spoiled rotten with Keith and Brenda and will soon be a different dog.

Those eyes just pull at the heart, poor little fella. Apart from being on the skinny side, he's such a lovely looking boy. Good luck Finnegan - life has just begun, enjoy.

He's a dark version of Enzo! Same head shape and puppy dog eyes, even same ears.

Bless him. He looks like he's had such a hard time , but things will look up for him now. I looked up the name "Finnegan" and it comes from the Irish "Fionn", meaning "fair". As in Fionn mac Cumhail, the legendary giant. And Bran was also a legendary giant... let's hope there is as happy an ending for Finnegan as there was for Bran .

Setting off for his foster home with Uncle Keith, (who he seemed to take to immediately they met - think 'tis mutual! ):

poor thing, he does look attached to keith already, Yup - 'twas lovely to see the way he quickly responded to Keith with no sign of the fear that was very much in evidence when he first arrived here.

Keith came to the vets with Finnegan last night. He weighed in at about 24.50 kilos. He should be around 32 kilos, so a way to go. When he has put on about 3 kilos he will be booked in for neutering. Anil gave him a thorough check-up last night and apart from a little conjunctivitus he is doing well. I'm sure that Keith will have him fattened up slowly but surely in no time at all ;D Looking forward to some fatter photos soon.
