Thought I'd let you all know how Ruby got on. After a dreadful journey home on the M25 ( took us nearly 3hrs instead of 90minutes) we arrived home. Both girls were excellent in the back of the car. Poor old Ruby, all very strange for her. We had some howling and whinging. To be expected because she must have been missing Jenny and the Harlow hounds. Off to bed and guess what.....not one whimper. Slept all night ;D Bit of a shock this morning for her as Chris took them out at 5:45 am. I took them both out later and she met the Elstead crew. I was not brave enough to let her off the lead. But I have been chatting with Jenny and will be brave and let her off at lunchtime. Both girls are out in the garden sunning themselves. Very early days for Ruby and us. Never had 2 dogs before so have lots of wine in the fridge When I get some pictures I will put them on the thread. I'll let you know how I get on with her off the lead Ruby really is a wonderful girl who has been through sooooooo much. Lots of time and hugs and Kisses and she will settle down love Karen & Chris xxxx

sorry to hear you had a nightmare journey home bet you were so glad to be home! glad to hear Ruby has had a good first might, hope she settles well, and enjoys today, hope she loves the sunshine and her and Poppy will be the very best of friends, we hope you soon adjust to life with two dogs now, we had never had two dogs at once either before until we fostered Holly and Phin together, it was very special to have a pair, espceially when they are so well suited and easy, we enjoyed looking after two and very rewarding ,it will be double the fun, double the love and double the cuddles, enjoy your two very special girls

I'm so glad Ruby has gone to a special home, she reduced me to tears many times after reading about her terrible trauma. She looks beautiful and I'm sure will give you so much pleasure and will be a great companion for your dog. I'm sure she will settle in quickly and no doubt be thoroughly spoilt.Good luck with Ruby.I'm new on here so excuse any mistakes!!

Sorry to hear your journey home was such an M25 nightmare Karen and Chris, absolutely not what you needed I can imaging how new and strange-feeling it is for you all at the moment - keep up the wine! You have the support of SLR right there with you along with any advice/backup/extra bottles of wine needed to see you all through the transition from one dog to two + gaining confidence with Ruby's tripod status. I am sure that with time and experience your confidence will grow apace Hugest hugs all round

Just updating you all on Ruby's progress. Yesterday after chatting with Jenny I took the dogs back in the field and let Ruby off the lead ;D What a great girl she was. Had a great run and play with Poppy. Did this later on in the afternoon and again when Chris came home from work. Both girls were shattered in the evening. Another great night with not a peep from Ruby. Just got back from their early walk with Chris. Had breakfast and they are both fast asleep. This afternoon Chris has taken some time off work so we are going down to the sea and introduce Ruby to Lee on the Solent. Hopefully will get some piccies and I will post them on the site. She really is a great girl and dearest Poppy has adapted well to having a new mate. It never ceases to amaze me how well these dogs adapt to a new and strange environment. Off soon for walkies with some of the Elstead crew. Karenx

Brilliant update Karen, so pleased she's settling in so well. Have fun in Lee this afternoon, be aware there aren't many places during this time of year you can take dogs on the beach so you might have to go further down to Stokes Bay, but I'm sure you'll have a lovely day no matter what. Look forward to lots more pictures of the gorgeous girl and her new sister Poppy
