Fly has come into the Rescue as a failed rabbiter. She was bought as a pup specifically to train to rabbit, from lines that work. She was a failure. She took to chasing a rabbit and then running off to have fun instead. The owner needs a dog that works so asked Mike if he could find her a Rescue place. This is an owner who has legal access to rabbit for a local farmer. He was concerned that trying to rehome her himself she may be picked up by people who would illegally use her and abuse her. Mike has agreed to foster her until we can find Fly a new home. Mike and Jenny (not me and Michael ) have two young children, a toddler and baby and she has been fine with them. She has also got on really fine with Fern and Shadow, Shadow being adopted from SLR in 2008. She hadn't lived indoors until Wednesday last week but Mike says that she is doing fine with her toilet training and is a lovely all round dog. We are looking for a home where someone is around part of the day. With or without other dogs. Fly is being rehomed as a pet dog and please don't even ask if she can go to another working home. This little girlie wants TLC and a family, as obviously the working life was not for her. She will be booked in for neutering shortly. Photobucket is playing me up at the mo, but photos should appear shortly.

Fly is AMAZING, she is so sweet and loving not cut out for a life as a working dog at all.
She is in Excellent condition and has been fed on the best food. She is very obediant and can actually retrieve things like a labrador can.
she loves cuddles and love and is great with the kids, they try to ride her like a horse and she takes no notice at all.
She likes to play with my other Dogs shadow and fern and is very gentle with them. She is used to other dogs and grew up with another lurcher.
she is a real beauty and will make a great dog for somebody

i met her owner many many months ago whilst out walking my two and Shadow took a liking to her and they played together, i had a nice chat to the owner and he told me he had been training her and she was going to go on a trial in a few months time, i asked what would happen if she did not make the grade and he sadi he would have to get another dog and had not thought about her failing. I gave him my number and said to give me a call if there was any problems. She was so lovely i had to think of her future. He rang me last week and she now is staying with us !
p.s she is 3/4 greyhound 1/8 collie 1/8 bearded collie and has been bred by a well known working dog breeder

She is beautiful...what a gorgeous pup. Most working dog men wouldn't consider starting a pup at such a young age...it's usual to start to introduce a young dog to work at around 10-12 months, depending on the dog...bit by bit. It's a good job you were around to ensure her safety.

Mike and Jenny came round to see us today with Fly, Shadow and little Fern. What a lovely level tempered girlie she is. She is fantastic on and off lead and loves the children to bits. She met Jessie and licked her round the face, which perplexed Jessie. This dog is an ideal family dog. Would nice if she went with other dogs, but not the be all and end all as long as she gets together with other dogs often. A couple of photos from today. She is only 10 months old last Saturday and still has a winter kennel coat on her, but when that has gone she is going to be sleek and shiny.

some cruel person gave me a link to this girl, not only does she remind me of my old lady when she was young, but I really like her. Problem is I am currently fostering luey for GRWE and am still waiting for him to go to his forever home, but cannot have a third dog how tall is she at the moment? how tall do you think she will get? I would have a "working" home (those that know what I mean wont be dismissing me straight away ) I do healwork to music and skateboarding to raise awareness of rescue dogs and lurchers, plus I show lurchers - well ok, I show pepper and get laughed out the ring and I expect my dogs to play fetch on walks on the beach or play chase the greyhound when we walk with friends. In all seriousness, I work full time but can return lunchtimes briefly, the OH then will be home after a period of 2 hours then, and I am hoping the lady who used to dog sit would be able to do the same again once she has recovered from her cancer treatments. Why cant my foster find a home

She's almost identical to our 10-month BC x whippet, Jax. Hope she gets her forever home, if not we may consider as Jax needs a friend.
