Wow! He really is a supermodel. It never ceases to amaze us how these beautiful animals can end up unwanted / uncared for. It's reassuring to know, however, that we will never be short of supply, because we would love to have a whole houseful of them!

Well today our beautiful foster boy may be leaving us for a wonderful forever home. After 6 weeks we have really got to know Cracker and we will miss him dreadfully. It was a difficult decision not to hold on to him but we know we have made the right decision for Cracker and our particular family situation. If all goes well I expect there will be a few tears in our home tonight I will keep you posted as to how things go today Deb

You should be very proud of yourselves Deb and Colin. Cracker has come a long way in six weeks and you have worked hard on his separation anxiety. And I think Cracker has shown Frodo that it is okay to play Hope all goes well today. The family are lovely and he will be very well loved. Stay strong.

Well it is the next morning already. We usually go to bed about 11 pm to 11.30 pm, which is later than Cracker has been used to however he seemed very energetic during the evening especially after a few short lapses into sleep. Our evening walk went well with me holding Cracker and Taz and John with Beauty. Taz needed to demonstrate his seniority and made sure that he kept at the head of the group. Cracker was very inquisitive, even about some of the neighbourhood cats, however it was just that and no problems. We had one little 'wee' accident at about 9.30 pm that is just new surroundings and the fact that he settled in so quickly I forgot the 'every 2 hours' rule to get him orientated. He wee'd with others in the garden at pre-bed visit and held his wee until he was let out in the garden at 6.30 am this morning, so really really well done Cracker. Knowing that he has had SA, I was troubled to decide what to do in regards to bedding down for the night. Our 2 have always liked being in their own room and I have always closed the door to keep them safe. We have never experienced any problems over bed sharing and so it was for Cracker. He changed beds a few times however settled into one of the big comfy ones and seemed settled. Beauty was absolutely worn out! She had so much exercise she could hardly keep her eyes open - Taz was a little perturbed but only because they had spilled over into his bed when they were playing and all he wanted was a quiet evening! Anyway, I decided to see what happened if I closed the door as normal and I left all the others open so that we could hear if Cracker cried. Well I have to report that he did not make a sound and when I opened the door at 6.30 am, the 3 or them were checking each other out and ran playfully into the garden. Bit of exploring, weeing and poo x 2 from Cracker and back to playing in and out of the house. Cracker's presence calmed Beauty as well as usually you have to have body armour on to cope with her joy at seeing you. All 3 wanted cuddles, but much shorter than normal and no bruises for me! First walk this morning on my own with the 3 and ok. Lots of sniffing. Cracker really lets you know that he likes his food. Whilst I put the food in the bowls he cried outside the door and he woofed it down - it did not touch the sides. He does try to muscle in on the others a bit but stops as soon as told however for the next hour he followed me around looking for more, and he had a really big bowl of Burns Complete and Wet Meat Mixer. At present all 3 are in the study with me, Beauty and Taz are snoozing but Cracker is still alert, not surprising as Cracker has been an early riser with his foster family and Beauty and Taz got an hour less sleep than normal. So, a good first night and reassurance for Deborah and Colin that Cracker is happy. Will take some photos during the day. Regards to all. Margey

That is such great news ;D Well done Cracker. Our house seems so quiet and we had a lie in until 7am which is unheard of. It sounds like Cracker is really settling in and will hopefully be a good playmate and a calming influence on Beauty. Of course then you might then need to get another Lurcher to calm Cracker down!!! It is lovely to hear all about him and we are really looking forward to seeing the photo's Thanks Margey x
