So just an update on hope, she was as you would expect a little nervous of a new fella, and when we went for a walk with Barney to start with would rather have been with him, its obvious the bond and trust that Barny had managed to engender in her in such a short time, well done Barny for that and starting her on her journey. She soon warmed up however and whilst still obviously not quite sure began to walk to heal, once I left Barny I opened the back door of the car and we were in like a shot, sniffed at the fluffy blanket curled up and didn't move for the entire trip from Harlow to Southampton. I talked myself horse in the car on the way back so she got used to my voice, although I have a feeling she was asleep and I was wasting my time ;-) When we got back to Southampton we stopped off at my parents to pick Soldier up, and Hope was very interested bowing and posing and trying to egg Soldier into play, so we came home, and went straight out in the back garden and had a good old sniff around, then we notised that Soldier was getting lots of fuss and all of a sudden we forgot all bout being nervious and head shy, came over and pusthed our head into my spare hand and had lots of fuss and gave lots of kisses in return. We came in and I sat on the couch soldier got up for his usual cuddles so Hope had to join in, and ended up on her back for lots of tummy rubs and yet more kisses, we had all sorts of moments of play egging Soldier to play with her (i will try and work out how to upload videos) At 11:30 I put them down the garden and Hope dutiffy abliged with a wee and then I had to break up zoomies round the garden and barking, (dont want to upset the neighbours just yet ;-)) Come bedtime we were straight on my bed with Soldier, she started off on the edge of the bed soldier next to me, but when I got up at 3 to do a garden and bathroom run when we came back I ended up sandwiched between 2 hounds with about a foot of room. This morning we have had lots of fuss and tummy rubs and zoomies around the garden and as I type this she is curled up on the dog bed in the office with Soldier. She really is a little sweetheart and very affectionate, still a little nervous of quick movements and new things, but a friend of mine popped round this morning for a cup of tea and she got up on the couch with her and Soldier. The next step is to introduce her in a very controlled way to my parent's pack, (2 labs under 2, a collieshep under 3 and 7 year old German Sheppard that is going through its second puppyhood and a 12 year old King Charles) that can get a bit boisterous s we will have to be very careful how we do that. We have also decided that the tinsel on the tree looks better dangling out of her mouth. All in all, going much better than i could have hoped and she seems like a happy girl at the moment.

Thanks for the fab update. It sounds as though things are going well. Maybe you had better de-tinsel the house! Good luck when you introduce Hope to your parents pack.

Ta muchly for a great update & pics Dale - 'tis always a huge relief when a hound that you've fostered bonds with the incumbent.
As a fosterer the moment of parting with the hound you've cared for over whatever time & grown to love always produces that strange blend of emotions - sorrow at parting with them allied to the joy of knowing that they've found what very likely will turn out to be their ideal forever home.
Thank you so much for taking Hope on board - I firmly believe that it'll turn out to be a match made in heaven.

Yesterday we found the doggy stockings on the spare bed and were all set for an early Christmas.
Today we have found a new game called jump the soldier.

Me thinks the lady is a bit smitten and full on. Soldier is playing hard to get, being the mature gentle type. She'll learn. x

She'll learn. x It’s fine she can be a bit full on for a bit, it’s nice to see her come out of her shell, she is very good at calming down when she is told it’s enough. And fingers crossed we have had no accidents in the house yet, although we arnt so keen on going down the garden when it’s cold and dark.
