What a wonderful update Sal, you are certainly having to put a lot of work in to get him healthy and Phoebe is certainly good for his soul. I love your photos, especially the one where Phoebe and Floyd are laying next to one another exhausted and the lovely lavender lady allowing him to share the bed, blurry screen. I look forward to seeing the pics with healed wounds, shiny coat and meat on his ribs which I am sure will happen very quickly and yours and Tims care, thank you xx

Lovely photos and what a sweetheart he sounds! These dogs are amazing the way they bounce back from such horrible treatment. He's going to be stunning once you've worked your magic on him!

Thank you all for your kind words xxx Making the most of four slumbering hounds so thought I'd post some more about floppy Floyd (floppy because if you scratch his back he looks all zen-like, sits down against you, flops back on to your legs, slides to the ground and lays on his back for a tummy tickle). Funny boy So, last night we decided Tim should come back upstairs as we didn't want Floyd getting used to human company of a night time, leaving all four to sleep where they wanted to downstairs. I left Floyd snuggled up on the sofa, didn't hear a peep out of any of them all night and this morning when I came down he was where I'd left him at bedtime. What a good boy. The kitchen door remained closed though. That's one room I wouldn't trust him to be alone in. That said, I've caught him nibbling a candle and a cardboard box It's been the Floyd and Phoebe show with nuttiness and hi-jinks again and today Floyd has discovered the fun of squeaky toys. He helps himself to them and they're now littering the garden. He doesn't know what to make of footballs and looks bemused when Phoebs drops one at his feet. He watches her though so he'll learn in time they can be fun too. His playing with Phoebe is stepping up a notch as his confidence gains, but she still holds her on and they let each other know when enough is enough. Here's some toy time with the ginger clown.. After I'd retrieved the cushion from the garden they set to charging around and around and around the garden. They exhausted themselves. Phoebe has never had so much exercise as this week. This is the Floyd effect.. Kali's face "That mad puppy".. Kali has escaped the garden looniness so far, they have sedate strolls instead.. Floyd was back to the vet this morning to get some wormers after discovering a worm in his poo. The vet had another look at his neck while we were there and he is pleased with the progress it's making. My Mum was with me and whilst I chatted to the vet Floyd parked one rear leg on Mum's lap for a sit down. He is a sweet funny boy. Unfortunately he threw up in the car on the way home, sending Phoebe hurriedly over the back seat to get away from it. He's seemed fine since and been playing normally so I'm not worried. I sat down for a quiet 5 minutes only to be joined by everyone and as you can see he seems fine... I only have eyes for you Whispering sweet nothin's.. And then it felt very much like two's company, three's a crowd.... I ran the slicker brush over him last night. My goodness does he have a kennel coat to shed. I'll have enough for another Floyd at this rate. One rather sad but not entirely surprising discovery given his physical condition was this afternoon as I lifted my arm to throw a ball for Phoebs, Floyd was stood not far in front of me and appeared to duck. I raised my arm to throw it again and the same happened, he cowered and came back to me staying low. Dear boy must've been struck in the past To end on a funnier note though, he's currently woofing at his own reflection in the blank tv screen . Tim thought he saw him looking at his reflection in the mirror yesterday. Ohh yes, I saw those comments about not getting to the adoption stage. Anyone would think we have a reputation for failing

Sal does brilliant updates . It is so gratifying to see how much fun Floyd is having after what was probably a rather sad history. And don't Phoebe and Floyd play nicely? He definitely needs a home with another playful dog, I think. Excellent first few days - thanks for keeping us so well informed. I love the videos - make me smile.

Lovely videos. It's definitely lurve between Phoebe and Floyd!!!!! They certainly seem to be having fun. Not sure they respect your soft furnishings!!!!! Floyd must be so happy as it sounds as though he's been ill treated.

Fantastic update. Floyd is really enjoying having a playful playmate. I chuckled seeing the other 2 girls sitting to each side peacefully watching proceedings but not remotely interested in joining in.
And and the toy box is AMAZING!! A huge mountain of lovely things for them to play with. Ours seems quite scant by comparison.

I'm glad I'm on my own today, as I've been chuckling away at Phoebe and Floyd playing on the sofa!! They seem besotted with each other! And then Floyd running off with the cushion finished that video clip off beautifully. Jemmima would love a playmate like that, as she's as much of a loon as Phoebe!! On the other hand, with Bob being calmer and knowing his limits, play times don't last as long as they could. Thank you for taking in this lovely, gorgeous boy, Sally and Tim and giving us such wonderful updates x

I too chuckled my way through the videos, especially the way you Have him trained (NOT) to carry the cushion out into the garden. I love the look on Kali's face. She is not amused!! On the brighter note, he seems to have a calming influence on play with Phoebe. Bitey face preferably to 50 miles an hour off the walls. My memory goes back to the day before Phoebe arrived, with the lovely crate set out with little toys and all neat and tidy!!!

Well we've passed the day 4 marker when a hound reveals their true colours. Floyd marked it by standing in the garden and howling at another dog barking somewhere! Just the once thankfully. It is incredible to see him so settled and accepted by our girls. He and Phoebs are a little snippy and lip curling at each other around food but we're watching out for that. There is no food aggression around people though, you can take his food away & put it back without any issue at all. Other than that he is sometimes car sick they are about the only downsides to an otherwise fabulous boy who definitely knows his name. The other day he dragged a bed throw away from the washing machine and got comfy on it in the kitchen and does a beautiful unprompted sit when there's something he really wants, like food being prepared. Rosie again was happy to share her sofa space with him. He jumped up and settled down facing away from her but then turned around and they snoozed like this.. And as for his play times with Phoebe, well, the picture and video speak for themselves. He certainly enjoys the excitement of a younger playmate.. It is hard to believe he was mis-treated because he is just so soft and soppy with people. His injuries and the need for the chain or prong collar just don't tally with his nature and temperament, unless that's how he came to be the way he is. Someone somewhen must have loved him and he must've been in a home. He met my parents again at the weekend, he found it so stressful... He fell asleep curled up on my Dad.. And he doesn't go much on Tim either Pucker up handsome If you stand for any length of time, he plonks himself down next to you, preferably with your legs to lean on.. The three wise monkeys escorted me to the greenhouse to supervise the watering. Or is it the three stooges.. Floyd had another trip to the vet today as a saggy fluidy area had appeared on his neck away from any of the injuries, there was a further lump near his armpit and the skin around where the large scabs had been on his back also felt fluid filled so the vet wanted to aspirate them. While we waiting to be seen I crouched on the floor next to Floyd & he perched on my lap The vet is confident they are all trauma based seromas so nothing to worry about and if they need draining again he will do it when he goes in for his plum op. Floyd was brilliant and didn't make a fuss, still wagged his tail after having three needles stuck in him and scoffed the treats on offer. Our vet checked his neck again. The throat wound looks so much better now, just some scabbing and much less swelling. Floyd's bark sounds a little raspy and he coughs after he whines so still some healing to do in there. The big lump on his lower neck is much smaller but he can feel what could be muscle damage underneath. He's to stay on the anti-bios as our vet believes the infected areas have been that way for some time. There's a bit of tinker about him too. This morning he tried pinching my A La Bark baking book off the table (choosing a recipe maybe) followed by the tin foil off the roast chicken. Yep he's a lurcher alright
