Olive Blog
Look!!!
Who do you think this is? Can you guess? .... Yep!!! IT'S ME!!!
I've discovered how much fun it is playing with dogs and not being frightened of them. The Human has been taking me to the park for a few weeks and letting me off the lead. At first I ran up to a dog and barked in it's face which wasn't very nice, but I was frightened. Fortunately TH wasn't put off and said it was OK because I had a muzzle on so I couldn't hurt anyone. Since then she's let me off the lead every time and now I love it. Some dogs I'm still a bit frightened of and I run up to them and say grrrrr, but then I just run and we end up chasing and playing with each other. I'm even letting the people with the dogs stroke me and I wag my tail at them!!!
I'm still frightened when I'm on the lead and react a bit but TH says I'm much better than I used to be and the muzzle helps her be confident that I can't hurt anyone while I'm learning to be calm. She says that now I've shown I can play happily with dogs I've not met before she knows I can learn to be relaxed when I'm on the lead. Yippeeeeeee!!!
I think this means I could maybe... just maybe.... find a new forever home soon. Toes crossed for me please!

Lovely. She's quite like Ella in running up and grrring first then saying hello and wanting to play.

I think now FM can relax a bit and it will work both ways. Lovely video. xxx My problem has always been being worried about other people's reactions. In the pub for example, I'm worried that things might kick off with the other dogs, Olive might growl at someone ... you name it. So I try to keep more control than I need in order to be on the safe side. I'm learning to say "xxxx it, just forget about them" (to myself of course!) so that I can do what I know is needed without worrying about other people. I've been giving myself a good talking to and it's paying off. Olive is the most adorable, cheeky girl but she's needed the rules and boundaries I've established for her, I just needed to take that one more step of forgetting about other people and trusting what I've taught her will work, and it is. There's been a couple of grumbles from others along the way, but at last I'm able to say I don't care, because Olive and her future are more important!!!

Well done Christine xx I know from past experience how difficult it is to relax around other dogs and people when you have a lead aggressive fearful Hound, it's far easier said than done, so well done

I'm just the same when Maisie kicks off! But it is great when other dog owners are ok and just let them find their feet. We had an example today and Maisie ended up having a great chase around on Southwold common with a spaniel and owner who were so laid back and gave her the time to settle. It's great when it pays off. Well done Olive, I hope a forever home is just around the corner xx

Olive BlogYou'll never guess what!!!I'm going for a stay-over for 2 weeks by the seaside with my new BFF, Ailbe. He's great fun and super cute, and we love playing together. I even got into one of the dog beds with him. He's really handsome and easy-going and his humans think he'll be a steadying influence on me. The Human says I must be on my best behaviour, and I'm going to do my best. I've met Ailbe and his humans a couple of times now and I really like them. I'll be posting an update to tell you how I'm getting on, but in the meantime, please send me lots of positive vibes ... I love TH and the rest of the pack, but I really want to find my forever home. Here I am with Ailbe and his human.
