Oh Olive, you are doing so well. Fear is a big thing to face, it's a good job you have T H to help you do that so you're not facing it alone. Breakthrough is happening Christine...well done

Olive BlogI love strokes!I've discovered that people can be nice and fun. The Human has been taking me to this place where I can go off the lead and run and explore. TH calls it the K9 Pleasure Park. Duncan, the man who runs it was there in the next field when we first went and he frightened me and I barked at him, but now I've got to know him I love it when he comes to see me. He plays with me and sometimes I even can't decide whether to follow him or TH. But when TH calls me to come I know I have to go to her so I always run back and sometimes I get a treat. I love it when he makes a fuss of me and I roll over and wiggle so he will stroke my tummy, then I jump up, run around like a mad thing and then back to him for more fussing. I've also been having fun with other dogs on the weekly socialisation walk. This week there was a new dog there which would previously have made me bark but I wasn't too worried so TH let me off the lead and I had fun running with her and the other dogs for an hour! TH says that I'm making really good progress and she can see that I can be with people and dogs without reacting and that it's just a matter of spending time socialising with dogs and meeting people and eventually I'll be OK meeting new people and dogs. I still react when I see dogs out on our daily walks. TH says it's because I missed out on socialisation with dogs and people, but she says I'm gradually getting there. I'm off to Boot Camp with my other Human friend, Jo, but before I leave TH I just had to get lots of cuddles and strokes. It was so nice I fell asleep while I was being stroked!

She so reminds me of Lottie on the Isle of Wight, in both character and the problems she has with socialization. Lottie got there in the end. Hopefully Boot Camp will help her see that life is good.

Boot camp has been going really well. Olive is meeting and walking with lots of dogs without any problems. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that when I get her back she will be much less anxious about meeting dogs and people. She is the most loving and cheeky little girl. She makes me laugh every day and is going to bring such fun into someone's life if they can understand what she needs to make her relaxed and calm.

Olive BlogYou say Boot.... I say Camp! Boot.. Camp! Boot.. Camp!Sorry I've not been around for a while but I've been at Holiday, I mean Boot, Camp. It was great! I met lots of dogs, went for lots of walks and play dates and Jo at the dog behaviour centre is my best friend everrrrrr!!! She loves me, she says I have a beautiful spirit and if she didn't already have 12 dogs she would keep me! I've been back to see her and went all wiggly and silly with her. It's been an eventful time and I had to do lots of training with Jo. I had a few moments where I reacted to dogs and people, but I'm starting to realise that dogs and people aren't necessarily frightening. The only reason I react is because I'm frightened; once I know dogs and people I love playing with them and love being cuddled. TH is taking me over the park in the mornings and letting me off the lead. I had a great time this morning. We met TH's friend Adrian and his 4 dogs where we parked. I barked at him because I was frightened, but I settled pretty quickly and hardly reacted to his dogs at all. TH let me off the lead to see how I would react and I was fine. I ran and ran and played with the other dogs. Adrian had a really, really, tiny little dog.... I think it was actually a rat, but TH said it was something that sounded like She Wow Wow. Anyway, her name was Rita. I liked her. She told me off a few times but it didn't bother me and I didn't chase her... I just play-bowed and ran off to play with the other dogs. I hope we can meet with them again. The Human says I've got a way to go yet but I'm definitely better since I've been in Holiday (Boot) Camp. TH says my recall is very good and best of all I'm a cheeky, happy, funny little girl. TH says I make her laugh every day, but to me I'm just being normal when I run and jump into the paddling pool. OK, so I didn't realise this was the big one at Boot Camp and didn't quite make it all the way in, but I can't see what's so funny, can you?
