Back from the vet (I left a message on your mobile Jenny). Little Meg could do with some SLR vibes as well as the antibiotics and Dermisol for her poorly tail. The vet wants to wait until she is better before worming and vaccinating. She also has a pretty dire rear.
She is a little heart breaker though, very cuddly and trusting. She has already won over all the dogs here, even Dylan and Ollie. I am weary of them playing with her though as she looks so fragile and have been hovering like a broody hen every time they interact with her!
She travelled well in her crate to the vet but was upset after the visit and we had to travel back with banshee wails! That full-throated saluki yell nearly reduced me to tears but she has now settled for a good sleep after her dinner. Phew!
Pics later.

Heal quickly tail vibes on their way. Poor you driving home with a saluki in full song. Glad she has now settled. She must be wondering what is happening to her poor little mite.

Poor baby. Tail injuries can be quite serious; even superficial ones, so keeping everything crossed here that she heals well. And a mild correction Annette. They were not banshee wails - no saluki would stoop so low; she was gifting you with the song of her people!

What a dear little thing! She must be so confused by what is going on right now, no wonder she felt the need to sing to you Annette. Sending lots of tummy and tail healing vibes to sweet Meg. xxx

Aw Heal soon little one...both tail and dire rear! I had some saluki folk singing from Bebe...It can be quite distressing until you realise it doesn't mean they're being murdered. You're doing a great job Annette.

Yikes, that tail does look raw. Thank you so much Annette for doing all the arranging with the vet and Sarah. It is manic here at the mo!

Little Meg is eating as if she has never seen food before and her tummy seems to have settled down thankfully. She can lick the wound on her tail even with a cone so she is also sporting an inflatable collar below that. I take the lot off when I can watch her though as she loves to run and play. She has an endearing way of launching herself at what must look to her like cliff faces such as my lap when I am sitting on the kitchen stool. She has already scaled the sofas and ended up on the dining table too. She is full of fun and mischief and has the rest of the pack running for cover apart from Rosie who seems to really enjoy playing nanny to her and is incredibly patient. Meg jumps up and sinks her teeth into the underside of Rosie' s neck and hangs there, Rosie then proceeds to gently try to make her let go. I am jolly glad it is not me!
She is adapting well to her routine of toilet, eat, toilet, play, toilet, sleep, and has not roared her displeasure once today. She has also adopted a toilet spot outside. All in all she is actually quite an easy pup apart from being incredibly fast and quick as an eel to slip through doorways (keeps me on my toes!). She slept until 7am this morning without a peep too and kept her crate clean.
I need to clip her nails soon as her front ones are particularly sharp, not far from cats' claws when she tries to climb up your trousers. I will have to try and do it when she is sleepy though as I dread her wriggle power.
Does anybody know of a convenient way of carrying a leggy 5.8kg pup so I can take her out safely without my arms getting crippled? She should really see more of the world right now but should not be on the ground before we can get her vaccinated. Anything like a front sling for pups?

Sounds like you are having fun. How long do you have her for?

Hopefully until the 16th April Heather. Try a long wide scarf Annette. Wrap it round her, round your back and back round to the front and tie. You can get baby sling carriers in charity shops. Or put out on freecycle to see if anyone has anything to offer. xx
