Interesting. When we got our first dog Eddie, the first night he went in the garden, tossed his head back and howled like a wolf. I am sure he was telling his street pals he had a home. He never did it again!

Boris has had a good first 6 days and we have been learning all about each other, lucky his first 4 days we didn't have any hounds come in just Basil who was already here and they made friends straight away. Boris has eaten well slept well and generally been a lovely dog, things we need to work on he hates cyclists and is not overly keen on smaller dogs when on the lead, although i get the feeling he would be. He has been quite shouty when new dogs come here at first we just tried muzzling him but it was upsetting all round for people leaving their dogs and the dogs themselves. A shame because he very quickly adjusts and is lovely, we were taking them out for a walk as soon as they arrived which is quite standard for us, but yesterday evening we removed him from the whole situation of the dog coming in and he hung out upstairs with our 18 year old, then we got him when the owners had left and dogs relaxed, then we all went for a walk, this seemed to do the trick. I have to say on the whole we are very pleased with how things are going and we are pretty smitten with him.

He is a bit like Ella, introductions are key. At her normal doggy daycare she gets popped in the garden when a newby dog arrives, then after the newby has had a sniff around inside and Ella has watched and judged from outside, Heather opens the garden door and lets the newbie out. Ella has a quick shout then a sniff and that is it, all done and sorted. Heather does always advise the newbies owners that Ella will shout first.

Thanks for the photos Jayne! Love the one with him and the rest of the pack. It's great to see him looking relaxed and sunbathing with the other hounds in your garden

Sadly, after an incident with a boarded dog Jayne has had to decide to return Boris. With the Home Boarding it was all too much for Boris having new dogs coming into the home. He has not coped with the changes well. Jayne is devastated and will be bringing Boris back to Kerry and Steffan later today. This is such a sad result as he was doing so well. We will be re-thinking the situation that might suit Boris best and with the help of a behaviourist get some insight as to what will make Boris happier. Huge thanks to Steffan and Kerry for backing this boy and bringing him back in at short notice.

That's a shame, but very understandable. I think it would be an issue we would have with Ella if we looked at doing daycare (thought about it due to possible redundancy and career change options). There will be a perfect home out there for this boy, and a more suitable houndy for Jaynes environment.

Such a shame. I don't think Boris wanted to leave Kerry and Steffan!

I know Boris is a youngster and although I'm not sure of his 'issues', we could offer him the stability he needs, and so I would love to be considered.
Margot agrees and I think he could be good for her.

That's such a shame, guess it takes a special kind of dog to cope in those circumstances.

So sorry it didn't work for Boris but somehow think he, Comet and Snoops will be delighted to get back together. Am sure Kerry and Steffan have missed him.
