OllieBlog!Tail waggingI've heard that humans understand about the different types of tail wagging and what they all mean, but I'm not sure humans realise what an art tail wagging is. I try not to wag my tail too energetically as this can lead to loud crashing noises... which I don't understand but I don't like! I've checked out the other dogs here and Daisy does a nice figure of eight twirl, Her Naughtiness (of course!) does the windmill, flicking everything in sight, and Comet... well he's a bit odd. He wags his tail at other dogs but not at humans. It's weird because he loves humans and will stand for hours to be petted but he doesn't seem to have worked out that humans like tail wagging. But then he's a bit odd and we never really know what's going on in his little head. As for me I favour the tail half-up swish from side to side rather than the windmill. I love it when The Human puts her arms out wide, especially when she bends down and says Olleeeeee! I didn't understand what it meant when I first came here but now I know it means she's going to cuddle me and make a fuss of me... sometimes she even goes nom, nom, nom in my ear and says I'm good enough to eat but I don't think she really means she's going to eat me!!! When she does the arms out thing I go all silly and wiggly... I can't help it. I do my tail swishing and then the special clever move that I've perfected from when I was with my previous human. I like to turn round and walk backwards and push my bottom into The Human... it's a bit difficult to explain, but I call it the "The Reverse, Backwards, Half-Swirl". TH seems to think it's funny but I think it's art! Here's a picture so you can see it in action. [Note to self: try not to push bottom into TH's face next time!]

He is absolutely stunning and your write ups on him and your photos are just lovely. I can't understand why he's still waiting. Hope his chance will come soon.

I just love Ollie blog. It sounds as if he is just living life now. I remember him doing the "the reverse, backwards half - swirl manoeuvre when he was here. He really deserves to fing his forever home. ❤️

OllieBlog!Walkies! The Human took me on a pack walk yesterday. It was great! It was strange being in the car on my own but I like the pack walks because they make me feel confident and I trot along with my head high and tail wagging. There were about 10 of us including 3 Lurchers! We all had to stay on the lead as we were at this big park with a huge lake and there were lots of humans around. There were also lots of dogs and some were off the lead even though there was a notice that said we had to be kept on the lead. It was interesting that all the dogs off the lead were a bit naughty! The Human let me approach all of the dogs, which I liked and I didn't get at all anxious about greeting them. There was one dog that snapped at me so I snapped back.... that showed him! He didn't do that again!!! There was a human called Jo who was leading the pack. I've met her before so I wasn't too worried about saying hello to her because she didn't come straight at me and just crouched down next to me. She smelt nice. Jo said it was OK for me to walk in the pack with whichever dogs I wanted which was great. I liked walking with the Lurchers. There was one dog that was a bit uncomfortable with me being close but I just trotted alongside her and ignored her and eventually she relaxed. Jo said I had a really nice energy. Not sure what that means but everyone agreed so I guess it was good. She said she would love to have me if she didn't already have 10 dogs because I made the other dogs feel comfortable and wasn't giving off anxious vibes... not sure what that means either. I would have liked to go off the lead when we got to this big field but Jo said some of the other dogs had a strong prey drive so The Human agreed that it would be best to keep me on the lead ... something about it would help my training to just watch them and not react. I think I know what she means but it was hard not to be able to play with them... maybe next time. [Note to self: TH says can I try and look a bit happier when she takes photos of me, so next time I must try laughing.]

I think the look you are giving is a 'smoldering film star look' gorgeous as usual. Well done for such good behaviour on your pack walk

OllieBlog!mmmmm... treats! When I first came here I didn't know what that thing was that The Human carried when we went out for our walks - you can see it here just before she takes us out. But Daisy showed me that it was how she carried the food that she calls "treats". I still don't understand why she carries food with her as well as feeding us in the morning and evening, but I'm not complaining. She said it was something about training! I soon worked out what happens when we are on our walks by watching Daisy. TH lets me and Daisy off the lead and we run off and chase each other for a few minutes. Then Daisy runs back to TH, stands in front of her and gives her the "I love you" look. TH then tells her what a good girl she is, puts her hand into the treat carrier and gives her one of them. They are obviously good as Daisy keeps going back for more. So it was obvious I had to try copying her and it worked! I got this yummy treat which was even better than our regular food. Sometimes I get so excited watching for birds that I forget about going back, and even when I hear TH calling my name I'm not sure about going back. But eventually I realised that it's treat time so I ran back. Now I even run back when she holds her hand in the air without calling my name, because I know it's cheeeeese!!! I have to sit and look at her before she'll give me the treat but it's worth it for cheeeeese!!! So, advice to all you fosters out there... COME BACK WHEN THEY CALL YOUR NAME, you'll get a treat!!! [Note to self: remember to give the "I love you" look when TH puts her hand in the treat bag, maybe she'll give me another one!]

OllieBlog!Dog bed reviewOne of the really good things about staying here with The Human and Daisy, Comet and Alice is I get a great choice of bed to sleep in... there's loads of them! I think I need to speak to TH about the number of dog beds she has... it's definitely become an obsession. As I've now become a bit of an expert on dog beds I thought it would be helpful to do a short review of the different types and show you my favourite. First there's the basic flat fluffy pad which TH says is called vet bed... there's 6 of these! Yes 6!!! Some are positioned over the top of the next type which is a thin pad with a slippery cover which makes a squeaky sound when you touch it. TH says this is waterproof, although why we'd want that indoors goodness knows. Because they are squeaky TH covers them with soft fleecy stuff which looks like a dog has walked over it with dirty feet as it has paw prints all over it. There's 2 small ones of these. Next there's the BIG thick beds... I've lost count of these as some disappear and others appear, but there's always 2 outside TH's bedroom and one where she works. I really like the one where she works as it's really thick and comfortable and is tucked away in a corner. TH says it's special foam... I wish she hadn't told me that as now I have to try really hard not to chew the cover in order to get to the foam!!! I mustn't forget the crate which has a lovely soft bed covered with one of the vet beds... I love it in there. It's where I take my chews to eat. I've only been here when it's cold so haven't seen the outside beds, but the others told me there's 4 thick beds that TH puts on the decking for us when it's sunny. Although I'd like to try that, I'm really hoping I'll have found my forever home by the time it's warm enough to sunbathe. Finally, there's my favourite. The soft bed with the high sides! I love these. There's 3 of them, but one is tiny and looks like it's for puppies so I only see it when I sneak into the spare bedroom. My favourite is the one that TH bought for me. She said this was a special Christmas present from SLR which she bought me. It's really soft and cosy, but everyone else seems to like it too, so often there's no room in it for me. Alice likes it best too and if I'm in it she just climbs in as well. I don't mind as it makes it more cosy, but it is a bit of a tight squeeze! [Note to self: must do a post about Alice's photobombing!!!]

Lovely update on beds, Ollie. Love the picture with Alice. Why waste bed space when you can get two into one!

OllieBlog!FriendsI love living with doggie pals. The Human says that I need to have another confident dog to live with ... I think she's right. I've lived with a number of other dogs since I was rescued and I've got on with all of them. Living with TH I've found a special friend in Daisy Mae... apparently this is what humans call my BFF. I'm not sure what a bff is but I do know that Daisy has helped me be more confident. She makes sure I know my place in the pack and also loves to run and play with me. I love being here with Alice because she's so naughty, but Daisy is my favourite because she's so chilled out. I hope when I finally find my new forever home that there'll be another easy-going dog that I can bond with like I've bonded with Daisy. She's special... and she's pretty cute looking too [Note to self: ask Daisy if she thinks I'm handsome]
