Thanks for the update Simon, Paxti seems to be relaxing into being a pack dog. Great work

Lovely update. I think Ringo is learning to be the perfect uncle to your fosters! As for Paxti, it is great to see him chilling. Brilliant, Simon.

It's been a while since I've had 3 at work. Just 3-4 hours today, to see how we get on. Soooo excited to be here! It was quite a entrance. After a while, time to settle. Pre-treat: Post-treat:

Patxipooz is a wonderful house guest. Endearing. Funny. Affectionate.
Attentive and responsive. He sits well before and after going out and usually promptly when stopping for leads-off or leads-on.
Very foody, but not anxious or aggressive. He waits for his food, after it's put down, looking intently at you until you give the, "go on then". All three dogs eat at the same time, only separated by few metres each. You can handle his bowl while he's eating, without concern, actually, without effect. You can withdraw the bowl before he's finished and he sits without prompting, waiting for it's return. I feel he's not far from 'leave' without physical intervention.
He only chews dog chews and other dogs. Joey gets a little fed up sometimes,,,, awwww,,, then starts the game again and looses all sympathy! Ringo seems to be enjoying Patxi's company and play, which is a very unsubtle play-style. The only style in Ringo's repertoire. Can the singular be a repertoire? Anyway, moving on.
Patxi can be left, home alone, though we've not done it often and it's always with our dogs.
He waits for his first pee & poo until I've have a coffee, checked emails and calendars and we've kitted-up and walked on lead to The Field. Mind you,,, he's very keen on a looong pee at that point.
No new photos. Humpf!

Great update, he sounds better behaved around food than me! I'd be biting anyone who took my plate away before I've finished

No new photos. Humpf! Ha! We taught him a load of those tricks and to not be aggressive around food. After he sits, if you ask for his paw he'll give it and will also lie down if you say 'Lay' and touch the floor. If you haven't got him sitting first he won't/wouldn't lay though. He used to be greedy and wolf his food down, but then he spent a week at my sister's house. She has two cats and Patxi's sister. The cats ate when they fancied it, Billie learned from them and Patxi seemed to pick it up from her. We also had to leave him at home alone while we went to work, part of the reason we couldn't keep him. He was fine but definitely needed a good, long walk (sprint around the fields) to burn off energy. Delighted to see he is doing so well, if still a bit sad he isn't with us.

jc, I can see he's been given a lot of guidance. He is very willing to learn.

jc, I can see he's been given a lot of guidance. He is very willing to learn. Particularly if there is a treat in it for him. We bought him a couple of those stimulation toys that require the dog to roll a ball around so it dispenses the treats inside. He worked out that if he rolled one of them into the wall it would split open and save him a lot of bother. And the other one he just chewed so the holes were bigger.

jc, that explains him being the king of kibble in a tube/pyramind/rolly-thing. Our two lurk on the periphery for scraps! Patxi empties it in minute! Must try some more tricky games with him...

Yep, so long as there is a bit of grub in it for him. That said, we used to use different types of ham as a special treat to get him to come when we let him off the lead in the fields. Sometimes he wouldn't even take it, but the recognition of being a 'good boy' was enough.

Patxi was fabulous on the SLR walk today. Took him no time at all to fit in with a lot of new, unfamiliar dogs. Off lead much of the time, never strayed far and always kept with the pack. Didn't follow Hugo & Joey on their escape to the under growth. Phew! Back at the pub. I went on another bike ride with him yesterday, separately from Ringo & Joey. Some off lead and some on. Without distractions, he's perfect and there's plenty of long-line work to be done on more testing recall. What's striking is how good he is on lead while riding. Me riding that is, with Patxi trotting along on a loose-lead by my side. He's very fit and strong, taking the 3+ miles at with barely a pant. He recovers so very quickly from blasts off lead and keeps up a trot effortlessly. Maybe I'll try a photo next time... Maybe not. Definitely try him for a longer route.

For those that didn't spot his part in the SLR walk.... ,,, which involves a LOT of dogs 'n' humans 'n' a pub.
