If anyone is looking for the perfect little girl, then here she is! I can't believe how easy this lovely little pup is. She is clean in the house, playful but not "in your face", and is so loving and happy. I tried putting her in the crate last night but then decided I would try just letting her find a place on one of the many beds around the house. She was perfect! No crying, nor separation anxiety, she just picked her bed and didn't make a sound all night. I let her out first thing and she found a discrete little spot in the garden and did her pee and poo straight away. She's a gentle little thing and a bit overwhelmed by Alice and Comet playing rough but she keeps trying to join in so I know she will gradually get more comfortable with them. The couple who first rescued her said they felt she didn't quite know how to act with other dogs and I think this is right. She's not nervous nor frightened, she just doesn't really know what's expected but my 3 will soon show her. She's been here less than 24 hours and she's already looking more relaxed ... I'm able to keep the back door open because of this lovely weather and she's even venturing out into the garden on her own to explore and see what the other dogs are up to. Off to the vet this afternoon for a check-up, vaccines and chipping. The dogs love this bed tucked away in the corner of my study and Dottie has now discovered it. She looks a bit bewildered in this photo but that's just her sweet little face. I've put a pink collar on her because people often assume a black dog is a boy!

Yeaks, what a perfect little girl and only a baby. I wish some of my older fosters had been this natural well behaved. A dream come true for some lucky family.

What a lovely girl. Your three will soon have her coming out of her shell. Our collie sometimes had a little worried look like that. It is quite endearing.

Dottie was a great hit at the vets yesterday. Word went round about her and there was a stream of nurses and vets coming to meet her. She loved it and made a fuss of everyone and they all said what a lovely sweet girl she is. She was very good about being checked over and having her first vaccination. She squeaked a little bit at the microchip needle, but it is a very big one. The vet gave her the all clear and couldn't see any obvious neutering scar so I'm going to book her in for her girly op. As I suspected, the vet said that she is definitely older than 7 months and we agreed to put her birthday as 1 July 2014, i.e 1 year old. This means I need to get her spayed as soon as possible as I don't like to think what Comet would make of a dog in season in his pack! We had a visit yesterday from a neighbour with a 6 month old cockerpoo that is very lively and Dottie was really playful with him. Not as boisterous as Alice but really happy to play fight with him. We had another very quiet and peaceful night with Dottie settling down straight away and not stirring until I got up. I had to leave her yesterday when I took the dogs out. I did it in relay so she wasn't on her own but she was howling both times when I came back. Separation anxiety is something I hate to see so I'm having to be very hard and not make a fuss of her when I go out nor come in. I didn't swim yesterday morning but when I went this morning there was no crying when I left, nor when I returned. I'm sure there will still be times when she will cry but I can see that she learns quickly and if I stay tough then she'll learn to be like my dogs and take no notice of me when I go out nor when I come back in. She loves other dogs and wanted to greet all of them at the vets. It's a bit early to say if she would be OK as an only dog, but I suspect she would be as she is very people-orientated. I'll update on this after she's been with me for longer. She's still proving to be the most lovely, gentle, sweet-natured little girl. Even though she's only been here a couple of days I'm already seeing lots of signs of her relaxing and feeling more secure. She's following me around a lot, as they always do, but occasionally she'll wander off on her own or not get up just because I do. Here she is all sleepy with me on the sofa last night... she's very cuddly!
