Aw Sue, he looks as gorgeous as ever. It's always lovely to get positive updates. He was always chilled out unlike a rather busy missy i won't mention! I can see Nippy being the team mascot for your son's football team. How lovely that the children are so involved with Nippy. If you look on the threads for SLR walkies you'll see where the walks are taking place, Keith can add you to an emailing list for times and places. Perhaps you could coinside a visit to the inlaws with a SLR walk? Phoebe and Flossie are often on the Hampshire one, (flossie being the pups mum). I'd love to see Nippy again too.

Just brilliant to get your update Sue, thank you so much The photos are great, gives me a blurry screen to see how loved and happy Nippy is. Also fab to see how happy your children are with him. Perfect. Please keep the updates coming! Do hope you are able to meet up with Flossie and some of her other pups (and some of us SLR members!) at some point soon

It would be wonderful to meet Nippy again and his family so Sue please do get in touch when ever you are down this way. Doesn't he look adorable Sounds like Nippy has landed on his paws with you all Our beautiful long legged bundle of chaos and mayhem (I'm sure we've got the 'wild child' of the family...the other pups sound so well behaved and gentle!) continues to grow and change at a rate of knots and keeps me on my toes. She is always in to something, under something, on top of something, digging something, racing around the garden, bouncing around like Tigger from Winnie the pooh, occasionally sleeping and always being absolutely adored by all who meet her She's been rather partial to the backs of my legs and hanging off my arms, the teak garden furniture has unique markings and the big L shaped sofa whilst still intact sees her regularly performing the 'wall of death' at speed around the back cushions much to the startlement of Rosie and Abi who were snoozing on it . Phoebs has also developed a fondness for running after joggers on the forest! Recall has been going so well but when there are distractions such as joggers and other dogs to chase and she can be quite bitey with us it's like were entering the adolescent twilight zone already We cant be the only pup-parents going through it....are we?? On the flip side she makes us laugh, can be snuggly cuddly, yawns so loud it makes us jump and gives full face and ear washes that tickle. She is such a happy girl, tail wags at everything and everyone, she loves meeting people, wants to say hello to every dog she sees and we've almost cracked the no pees indoors rule hurrah and amazed me by trying to appease Abi (who she usually jumps all over) when she was panting and shaking at thunder this week. It really was incredible, Phoebe was gentle and fussed Abi licking her mouth and ears making little whimper sounds and it seemed to work. What a star! Has it really only been two months since she arrived Phoebe had her first trip across the border to Scotland this month on our annual holiday to the Highlands. The drive with stops took over 12 hours but she was good as gold in the car and was home from home not unsettled at all. To be honest she takes everything and everyone in her stride. Enough of my waffle, here's some piccies.... Tim informed me he'd gone outside to do some training with her. Hmm... Ahhh haaaaaa!!....she's part hare!! Phoebs looks so different & she's lost her white tootsies... I've taken loads more (no surprise there then) but Photobucket is lagging plus it's walkies time. It's no wonder she turns heads, she is stunning and at only 4 months old too

Instead of keep playing the guessing game I sent away to have our batty mad box of frog's DNA tested. Surprisingly there was no trace of hare, kangaroo or giraffe but apparently this beautiful young pupster ... is quite possibly ... There's often speculation over how accurate these tests are but as we haven't a clue who the Daddy is we figured there's nothing to lose. The Saluki x Greyhound match is no surprise so maybe the Basset is accurate too. To be honest other than Saluki I fully expected the outcome to be mainly 'Mixed Breed' not pure breeds. The Basset was definitely a surprise! All the pups have such long legs after all but I guess maybe not all genetics come out physically, some are traits. A friend sent me this link which now has us thinking well maybe the test is correct... www.bassetpuppy.com/photo6.htmlCertainly as far as Phoebe's colouring and neck markings go she is a good match for 'Reese' in the pictures and where she did have a black stripe along her dorsal, the hair is now long wavy and sable. Could it be from a Long Haired Basset?? She also tracks scents for some distance running along with her nose to the ground, bum in the air. It is easy to look for similarities when you've something to base it on though. That said, her Mum Flossie would be either the Saluki x Grey or the Saluki x Basset and she looks like neither really so who knows, but it was fun seeing the outcome and maybe if Phoebe requires vet treatment in the future (she's a lurcher, she's bound to!), knowing what her make-up could be may also be of help. It would be interesting to see what any of her sibling's DNA comes out with and could they have different Dad's even, as happens with cats. Whatever the outcome we love her to bits even if she does drive me crazy at times especially after she's got wet and turned in to a Gremlin going absolutely mental around the house and garden. So allowing for a dash of Basset, her list of names has grown from Phoebe, Ratbag, Cowbag, Oi, No, Getoffthat, to Fred, Freida, Baz, Basil and Bertie...cos she's a sweetie really

Wow, that's really interesting. I would never have thought of her having basset hound in her mix. Will have a look at this company, I am so intrigued as to what my gang are made up of apart from the lurcher boys all having saluki in them. Also pleased to know that I'm not the only one who has a multitude of names for their dogs ranging from good to bad!! xx

How? Little legs and long legs, how did a bassett hound pull that off? I suppose where there's a will, there's a way Like others have shared, she is perfect as she is, all the pups are
