Fantastic to read about this lovely boy and the fact that he's well and truly HOME, well done all...and please more pics whenever you can, Charlie was such a popular boy on here xx
Good morning all...thank you for all the lovely comments!
I thought it was time for an update to mark two fun-filled weeks! And yes, unsurprisingly, as I type, the lovely Charlie is splayed out on the sofabed next to my desk - his normal spot during my working days!
Everything is still going well and a couple of days ago we felt confident enough to start letting Charlie off the lead a couple of times each walk for a short burst of zoomies and bitey-face play with Max. He does tend to be a tad more boisterous with his play when we're out because he has much more room to stretch his legs, but Max is enjoying it even though it looks worse than it is! We're still being cautious with letting him off the lead when there are other dogs around - there's only been one occasion were he was a little bit too playful with a smaller dog but otherwise he's been great...nothing that we can't handle and we're just happy he's so food-focused so the treats always persuade him back!
Separation training is still going well. We've built up to two hours now, slowly and steadily and Charlie has been great, always over the moon to see us again of course but then that's the case even if we take the rubbish out to the bins! No issues whatsoever overnight - we take his bed to our room and he sleeps right through the night...we've held strong in not letting him on the bed - although we have kept going with allowing him on for 5 or 10 minutes in the morning for a cuddle to say "good morning" which is a lovely way to start the day!
I've put lots of photo updates below and a zoomie / play video of Charlie and Max! There are less photos with Jack who has been great himself, just plodding along and letting the crazy Lurchers get on with being mad!
The wait AND rejections we did were all worth while. He got the right home. SLR is about Support Love and Respect. And it's all there, in those photos and your words Chris. Enjoy. xx
A dog is a gift in life. Love and protect it. _________________
Well done you! What a delight to see gorgeous Charlie so relaxed and happy. Monty & I still miss him on Whitecliff most afternoons, but seeing him so obviously happy is more than enough compensation.
