Yay indeed! So do happy! He is the loveliest little dog and he fitted in so well. He has done so much for Ty who was struggling with how to behave around other dogs since we lost Marley. Ollies calm and confident approach has sorted him out. They play together and curl up together. It's amazing. Tess looks on with a motherly eye and keeps them in check!
Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great Christmas. Ollie enjoyed the wrapping paper immensely and took a flying leap from one side of the room onto the sofa the other side with all four legs spread around him. Wish we'd filmed him. On Friday he was off lead in a wooded park with lots of other dogs. He saw/a Doberman pupand took chase with characteristic erring growls. The puppy, clearly not socialised took flight with terrified squeals and this just spurred ollieon. Ty joined in the chase. They came back after a very long minute and I hooked them back up and waited for the owner to comeback. The man was a terrible bully who claimed Ollie was a dangerous dog who shouldn't be off lead as he tried to attack his dog. Both dogs at this point were 2 feet from each other completely in interested! After he yelled in my face several times threatening me and Ollie I snapped and shouted back that he knew nothing about digs because if Ollie wanted to bite his dog he would have caught it but he didn't cos he just likes chasing. It ended with him threatening to hit me and me leaving in tears.I suppose Ollie does look vicious.

Oh dear. I think a lot of people think the way hounds race up to dogs or people is a threat when it is just a hound being a hound. Don't let it get you down.

Such a dilemma, on lead they get barky and cross, off lead they can run into people like that. I need some deserted enclosed fields!

Poor you. Hope you never bump into him again. I am having the same trouble at the mo with Hamish. He goes racing over to other dogs and wants to play racey-chasey. If the other dog tells him to bog off or just ignores him he shows respect, if they play even better, but if they are a bit namby-pamby I do try to catch him first and put him on lead and make him greet them slowly instead of like a furry tornado. Haven't had any aggro from anyone yet, thank doG. Glad Ollie and Ty enjoyed their Christmas, and I hope you can put this nasty encounter behind you and have a Happy New Year.

Such a dilemma, on lead they get barky and cross, off lead they can run into people like that. I need some deserted enclosed fields! A dilemma you are not alone in facing Linda. I always say that every walk is a continual risk assessment, with Alfie especially, as he's the more reactive. But Greta will run up to other dogs in the same way as your Ollie did, barking and play bowing...most people see the rushing and barking dog, and not the play bowing so we too have to be careful and try to prevent her doing this.
