[Apologies in advance for any odd font due to ipad gremlins!]
Today's handover went very well! Annette, Neil and the resident pooches (Dylan, Sophie and Ollie) were wonderful hosts to my mum and I...(Steffan was out celebrating a friend's milestone birthday so was unable to join us).
Doggy "au revoirs" were said in the form of a few games of chase, while the hoomans enjoyed a coffee and a natter, then completed the relevant paperwork. And it really is au revoir as we fully intend to keep in touch with Annette in the long term, but most especially during this important transition stage for Comet. Not wanting to risk Comet reverting to his old self and managing to stage a getaway, we've invested in an escape-proof harness from Ruffwear. He's taken to it well and so far showed no signs or attempts to bolt. It's early days, so we are working to the old adage of "planning for the worst, and hoping for the best".
After waving goodbye to Annette & Neil, we brought Comet straight back to the house as he has been here twice before so it is somewhat familiar territory and is hopefully a reassurance for him. He & Snoop immediately had a good old reunion play to re-acclimate.
We then visited Nanny Pam (my mum) and the boys showed her who's boss as far as dog entitlement to sleep on the sofa is concerned: ...before finally settling in to a comfy arrangement that suited everyone: We're now back at home, with the boys fed, peed etc and taking a well earned nap after an eventful day:

It's lovely every time one of the fosters goes to a new home but it is extra special when a long termer finds their family. Brilliant work by all involved and so pleased for Comet and his new best friend Snoop.

Great update, Kerry, and thanks for getting me out of a hole. Yes, sorry everybody, but we forgot to take any pictures when Kerry and her Mum picked Comet up and I was a bit worried at the reactions here! Comet looks already very much at home and very relaxed. He is a loving, cuddly dog and he is obviously finding it easy to adopt Kerry and her family (yes, I know it is supposed to be the other way round!). This is making it less difficult for me to let him go. There is of course a bit too much empty space in the house right now but knowing the months of fostering have succeeded in making Comet ready for his new home is very rewarding, so no hankies, thank you! Just lots of best wishes for Comet in his new home and many thanks to Kerry and Steffan for giving him his permanent sofa.

great update, and well done everyone. After all this time it must have been really hard to say goodbye to Comet, so special thoughts for Anette and Neil. Be happy in tour new home, Comet, and looking forward to more photos s you gradually get used to your new routine
