What on earth is wrong with brindle? Owning a brindle is still on MY to-do list. That's if Fran doesn't get 'em all first.

Comet had his first go at agility at a local show last week-end. He can jump and he can weave! Tunnels and sitting on a straw bale are for terriers right now though. Unfortunately no pics as Neil was busy holding our two. He gave us a fright last week when he became very sore on a hind leg for no obvious reason. It swiftly progressed to a total refusal to bear the slightest pressure on the inside of his hind leg, a large soft swelling in this area and acute lameness. I cold hosed him to try and reduce the swelling which went down over night only to move to his sheath. When the vet saw him in the morning she diagnosed an allergic reaction to a tick bite. Huge relief as I was imagining gruesome muscle or internal injuries and dreading a Comet on enforced rest! Chilling at home Bottoms up! Comet is coming to Scotland with us from the 6th to the 16th. The cottage does not have wi-fi so our internet contact will be subject to being near civilisation but we will make up for the lack of news when we return with lots of pics hopefully.

What a scare. Glad Comet is okay. Those ticks are a flipping nuisance. Enjoy your Scottish break.

...Comet on enforced rest ... 3 of those 4 words don't go together and enforced isn't strong enough. Big relief.

What on earth is wrong with brindle? Exactly my thoughts Ro - but then I guess I've shown my true colours already!! Glad Comet didn't have anything serious wrong with him, although those ticks can be nasty things! Enjoy your holibobs, and I'm looking forward to your pics already. I can't get enough of this boy - he looks so well with the rest of your pack.

What a relief for you that it was just an allergic reaction... pesky tics! Have a great time in Scotland and looking forward to see the photos when you return

Comet must have worked out that I am specially pleased with him when he is sitting and for some reason associates the night time biscuit with sitting. Because he finds sitting so awkward I have always asked him to just lie down for his biscuit but the last few nights he has dropped down and immediately propped his front end up in his best approximation of a 'sit'. I love this boy, he tries so hard to please!

All my 3 are happy to sit, but my previous Lurchers didn't like to. I'm surprised at how easy it is for Alice to sit as she is tall and long, but she clearly has a preference for sitting and does it all the time, and much faster than Daisy and Comet - like your Comet, she associates certain situations and commands with treats and will sit. When I say steady as I get to a kerb (which means "stop walking"), she immediately sits as well, bless her.
You're doing a great job with Comet, he has come on so well and is going to be a perfect match for someone, hopefully, very soon!

We all had a great holiday in Macduff including the four amigos! Plenty of sandy beaches, very little rain and some lovely old castles and beautiful gardens. Comet was very well behaved and travelled like a pro. It was a long journey, one day to Stirling plus half of the next day. Motorway services every two hours for a leg stretch and a drink and lovely stops at Neil's parents overnight. Plenty of fun: Happy to come to call: Video: Relaxing among the ruins of Elgin Abbey:
Picnic stop: Throughout the whole ten days Comet proved to be a really fantastic dog to have around, happy to be racing and playing when allowed but also quiet while travelling and sightseeing or even staying in different houses with people he did not know. My sister-in-law questioned how we could go on holiday with four dogs but had to admit it was actually not a problem when they were all laid-back and (usually!) obedient.

Such a transformation, it takes some effort to remember how he was when first collected. Nice holiday too it seems.

Lovely pictures of them all having fun on holiday. Having met Comet at St. Francis Animal Welfare, I found him to be such a gentle quiet and lovely dog. I thought everyone loved brindles!
