Dolly first night with us. We have very lax sleeping arrangements here as long as I have my place on the bed all sleep where you like. So Belle was with me on the bed and Dolly had the choice of four dog beds and any room she liked. Never heard a peep out of her all night. Off for our morning walk what a laugh trying to get two excited dogs out the door Dolly has her harness what a fiddle that is to get on Belle's so hyped up she is trying to eat it. I need another pair of hands. In the end I put Belle on her lead and hooked her on the door handle, so I can sort Dolly out. They enjoy their walk Belle could run free, so she did her best to wind Dolly up by running off and the coming back and running circles around us. Belle run for England but Dolly had to be content to just be on her harness. They have been getting along fine but they have just had a bit of a argie bargie don't even know what over. Only for a few seconds and I think it was all noise. I expect it was Belle's fault as being here first she want to be top dog, well over Dolly any way but not over me. ;D It was soon sorted, with my verbal intervention. Its does worry me but I know they will have their differences. Let hope it does not escalate into any thing to bad.

You're doing well Jean. The fact that Dolly has to stay on the lead is, at the moment, giving Belle the upper hand. She is probably just rubbing Dolly's nose in it, so to speak. Cheeky little monkey. I said to John and Viv the other day that we should all record our dog's argie bargies ;D Then again, no-one would adopt a second one if we did ;D They'll sort themselves out, and as you say, you are top dog so no problems. Problems usually arise when the human is not strong enough to be top dog. Yes Elly.... I am coming..... stop nudging my arm off the computer ;D ;D

Just to say Dolly is beginning to relax with us a bit more today she still ducks and dives around indoors and looks far an escape route but she is now happy to lay in the garden and she is not hiding in the flower pots any more. She was even happy to let me brush some of her thick kennel undercoat out she loved it, I think it went form brushing to fussing.Gave her a pigs ear after so I will be her friend for life she went in the garden with hers and Belle had her indoors, don't want any argie bargies over pigs ears. But i might live to regret that if she has a Poo accident tonight. So far she has been good I do expect a few indoor accidents lets wait and see. Have posted a few pic, you can see how many scares she has poor thing I think its from dog bites when they had to fight over food/bones in that dreadful place in Ireland that she came form. No wonder she is so nervous and traumatized and in fear of everyone. It will take time but I am sure she will get there.

don't think we will win best pairs in show Belle & Dolly are superbly matched, & Dolly's battle scars certainly shouldn't count against her in a Best Brace class - if they do, the judge wants taking out & shooting! (& I'd be more than happy to do the job! ;D ).

Jean I am so happy that Dolly seems to be settling in well and getting on with Belle. She is doing really well and it won't be long until she is relaxed and totally at ease. That she let you brush her is a very good thing! She does have quite a lot of scars and it will be from Ireland like you say. We will never really know what happened to her in that dreadful place but she is getting better all the time. Keep up the good work and let me know how she is at the show and with strange people.

Jean, they look so lovely together. Alice and Archie had a couple of squabbles within the first week of him being here which was worrying obviously. Don't know who started it but I think Archie was a bit bewildered with his new surroundings and obviously wasn't as relaxed as he is now. By the second week he had lost that "bewildered" look and has settled in here beautifully. Good luck to you all

Went to the Much Hadam Show today with Belle and Dolly it was lovely to catch up with everyone and to introduce them to Dolly. Well I think she surprised us all. She was nervous to start with but as the day wore on she started to relax and I think by the end of the day she was even enjoying it. She had children fussing her and she accepted it with no problem. I sure she had grown in confidence as the day went on She has come on leaps and bounds in the last few days she has decided that indoors is better than the garden and that Belle's bed in the lounge is now best of all the cheeky monkey Belle has been relegated to the movable blanket. I am just so glad she feels comfortable enough to spend time in the lounge with us and can relax. And is not ducking and diving around the place all the time .A couple of pictures of the girl's chilling out this evening.

Jean just got in and saw this. I can't tell you how happy we both are that Dolly has settled in so quickly and so well and as to being ok at the show, well that really really surprised me. Just goes to show how secure she must feel with you. Whatever magic you are working on her, just keep it up, its working a treat. So happy for you. ;D

Thank you Laurie she is settling really well but I am sure you did most of the hard work before she came here. Any way she came out best from going to the show as she ended up with a one of siuoxzi nice new fleece coats. I would not have entered her into any dog show today she had enough to cope with bless her . Who knows maybe next year.

Sykes and I met Dolly today and she's absolutely gorgeous! She was a little shy at first, I held my hand out to her while I was standing and she took a step back, but as soon as I knelt down she came forward voluntarily and had a lovely long fuss. She was taking everything in from behind the SLR stand and went for a walk around the fete and was a very good girl. She seemed to like Sykes and Paula's Lucy, and with all those girlies about him Sykes thought he was in heaven! I have photos and they will be uploaded soon (waiting for camera battery to charge!).

This was about the only pic I took, I think Belle & Dolly look lovely together, Dolly is a gorgeous dog and behaved fantastically considering you have only had her 3 days Jean.
