Things continue to go well - since I banished any kind of manufactured or commercial food (inc bics/treats other than flexi-joint bars - half of one daily - and dentastix, every other day, might try halving those too) - Rory continues to be dry.
He's got very good about getting me up, which is helping a lot - he stands by my bed and 'talks' to me - it was 5.30 this morning, it's usually a bit later. I don't mind esp at this time of year. Apart from a few drops one night, he's now had six dry evenings and nights running. Phew!
I've ordered some of the Hold It tablets, so we shall see how they go, and with luck we may have turned the corner.
It seems to help not to tire him out too much, too. I've been very quiet this week esp after the constant activity the previous week (American friend staying) - and not going very long walks either due the weather (and Royal Ascot). When he gets very tired he goes into very deep sleep and that's when he's most likely to wet badly

I do his old grey head a lot and give him loads of ear ruffles etc! - he was very head-shy indeed when he first came and cowered horribly even when I just moved my hand close to his head... it was clear he'd been mistreated (ie hit about) at some point along the line... He also totally freaked the other day when I grabbed him round the neck to stop him bounding out of the front door - shrieked and threw himself backwards, and I wasn't doing anything that could have hurt him either So I've always made a point of fussing him a lot around the head and esp kissing his head when I'm drying his paws or putting his collar on, and it's mostly done the trick - he's not really head shy any more, and he positively loves having his paws and back dried! We make quite a game of it, and use it as a chance for a love-in. I must say I was in a bit of despair last week when he was wetting every night and sometimes quite badly! But now I seem to have it under control I am indeed a lot happier and so is Rory. Both my cameras take videos but I've no idea how to post or send them - can anyone pm me with advice? I'd love to show you all how he revels in his runs on the 'Rec' - you can actually see him laughing as he bounds about - and he really enjoys it when I get a bit of a distance then put my arms out when he spots me and he RACES towards me - it's so cute Edited to add: Rory is going to be VERY PLEASED INDEED when Royal Ascot is over!! ;D There is lot of harrumphing, and getting up and re-making the bed, and loud sighing, by this time of the afternoon during a big race meeting hahaha! Only one race to go...

Sorry, have only just caught up with this thread. It is absolutely wonderful to see the loving bond between Rory and you. This sweet Oldie is very lucky having found you and the way you are responding to his needs is fantastic. I'm sure you have finally managed to crack Rory's main health issues now, with all that patience you have shown............... Way to go, little Rory, you have the best mum in the world! Viviane. X

So far so dry, unless I leave him downstairs to sleep on the sofa. I've done that three times in the last fortnight when I've been to bed very late (like 3am) and he's been fast asleep. Once he cam eup to wake me, but twice he just slept through or at least didn't bother to get up... and we had a bit of a wet towel and rug, Not a real soaking luckily.
Anyway, the moral is, that I need to take him up with me however hard it is to rouse him, because then he wakes me when he needs to go out! He sort of stands and 'chirrups' at the bed, lol. It wasn't much fun the other night when he woke me at 2.30am and then AGAIN at 4.30am... but it's better than lots of washing! Usually he just gets me up once...
I've got to download some pics tonight, and I know there are some good new ones - so 'more later'

More dry beds and cleaned out dishes What time I take shopping and cooking, is saved by having a lot less washing to do Here's a couple of pics from early June - Rory bored to tears by Royal Ascot! ;D You can see his baldy patch where his leg meets his stomach - when he eats the wrong stuff esp tins, that goes black and hot and sweaty. But the hair's growing back now and it's at least not black or angry red. And it's not bad like that on the other side. I've got some nice ones of him enjoying our little garden last week - will upload a few tomorrow, must get us both up to bed!

Haha! Me too Jane. He did wet a little on Sunday night but that's my fault for leaving him downstairs... He got me up at 4.40 last night but was dry in the morning, I hear Sioux has posted the waterproof backed rugs, so we look forward to those! Thanx, Sioux I just posted a small album to Facebook of Rory enjoying the brief sunny spell last week - let's see if you can click on this link and see the pics, to save me uploading them all... www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150909640104103.404866.697039102&type=1And now we are finally off to bed!

That's annoying that people can't open them - I set the album to public! FB can be very temperamental... I'll do the Imagur nonsense tomorrow with a few... too tired tonight. Anyway - red letter day today! Last night Rory let himself out of the bedroom somehow - no idea how he did that as I usually shut the door on the latch, and it's not easy to get a paw around esp due the placing of the vertical beam a foot in front of it - and I was so whacked I didn't wake up til 8am, when I sensed something ... and there was Rory peering at me with his little head poked round the door! So I got up, in some trepidation as the sofa wasn't properly 'rugged up' last night and only had a small towel on it... Oh no I thought... expecting to have to put the sofa cushion and all in the bath IT WAS DRY!! He'd gone all night without going out, AND without peeing in his sleep. That's a first, in about 2/3 months. I was soooooo happy! He's putting on a bit of weight too at last. So we chug along. He's on the sofa beside me, dreaming... paws and tail going, and the odd growl and baring of teeth. Now his ears are going back and forth - must be a good dream
