Unfortunately Jean, Tamara had to cancel the appointment due to herself and her own hound being unwell. We are hoping to see Tamara soon. Winnie is being neutered on Wednesday. She is doing really well. Poor mite has not had an opportunity of a free run again, but hope to meet up with Barney shortly to give her some fresh air. ;D

How is little Winnie doing Mummy Chook beat me to it Jean, but the lass is indeed doing well, continuing to be very affectionate & to socialise happily with resident hounds & visiting dogs alike.
Here she is getting a bit of fuss from Keith, who purports to see Lurchers as second class citizens compared with Greyhounds, but in reality he has a soft spot for all sighthounds! :

Winnie's not long been back from the vets following her spey & is absolutely fine - she's taken herself off to the hounds' bedroom & is sleeping off the anaesthetic.
She'll be back at the vets for her stitches to be checked on Friday, when I take Jobi in for his abcess to be drained.
I'm beginning to think that Jenny & I might as well hold our SLR meetings at the surgery - we seem to be spending all our time there recently!
Edited to add pic

Glad little Winnie is OK after being spayed, after what happened to Gypsy I always worry about dogs having GA. I don't know about you and Jenny spending all your time at the vets Barney, its also all your money you are having to spend, for the rescue and yourself. We will need to have a big fund raising effort at this rate.

Glad little Winnie is OK after being spayed, after what happened to Gypsy I always worry about dogs having GA. Thee, me & lots of other folks Jean! Hopefully the All About Dogs event in May will give funds a bit of a boost, (I'm led to believe that the collar decoration manufacturing facility is working flat out! ).

The collar making slave-shop has a new twist. Some lovely little bells arrived thanks to Mark, from his own personal stock donated for our hounds and I am busy on a couple of prototypes. Will post piccies of the first one of the kitchen table production line. And yep, we have paid out in excess of £500 in the last week on 3 neuterings, one absess op. and 4 innoculations. So no-one is allowed to break a leg or get a cut (the dogs that is). Ordering cotton wool as I type!!!! Back to Winnie - she is such a happy dog. Barney and I had a long walk down by the river yesterday so that Murph and Erin could have some time off-lead before Jobi arrived back. She pulled slightly to get to the park, did lots and lots of wees and sniffing and then was a good girl on lead to the river's edge. She didn't once lunge or growl at any of the dogs we encountered and is such a waggy dog now. Uncle Barnacles does have the magic touch. ;D We walked and talked and Winnie was a poppet. She came home to well deserved treats. Poor Winnie would love a home to call her own. A comfy sofa and a loving cuddle. Is there anyone out there who needs a loving cuddle and a sofa dog

Here are a few piccies of her enjoying her misty morning walk, and a short video. Going to say hello to Mim Where's everyone going. Wait for me. I'm luvvin it. Are you Megan? Come on Murph and Meg. This is fun Wait for me I'm out of practice. I'll catch you up And just a little video clip of the little lady. The "ouch" was Megan sticking her muzzle in me!!

Lovely photos Jenny/Barney how nice to see how much fun Winnie is having now. I do hope she finds a new home soon, it just needed some steady folks and hounds to get her in the right direction, she looks as if she is getting there.Bless her. How foggie was it in your neck of the woods this morning, we went out about 9am and had a lovely walk, still frosty but brilliant sunshine.

More proof that Keith appears to be mellowing in respect of Lurchers ;D :
He popped in for a cuppa & a natter about him & Brenda possibly fostering for SLR - it was duly noted that Winnie received a fair amount of fuss at Keith's hands :
Hardly surprising really, since she's such a pretty cuddly bundle :

We had a lovely lurcher walk yesterday in open countryside. It was Winnie's first off lead run with the hounds. She was an absolute poppet and greeted all with a wag, even big pup Tag. She has changed so much and being off-lead has done her the world of good. She is now socializing easily with the other dogs and is a credit to Barney's perserverence. It's all off lead from now on, and pub lunches, of course. Here she is with the lovely Logan, another gorgeous hound looking for his forever home.

As you say Jenny she is a credit to Barney, its the first time I had met Winnie yesterday,as you said she is a little love and did not put a paw out of place. And for a dog that ( HAD ) a few issues with other dogs in the past, she now seem to be a nice well balanced dog. There were a good number of dogs yesterday our own and others we came across, even young pups like Tag, and she just took it all in her stride. I think Barney has done all the hard work with her and whoever takes her on looks like they will be getting a smashing hound.

Like I said on Logan's thread; can't believe no one is interested in them; if Winnie was cat friendly I'd have her tomorrow only don't tell OH
