Well I had the pleasure of meeting Fin and his mum today. He is an absolute poppet, and I'm sure someone will snap him up very, very soon.

Sadly, the lovely couple who visited Fin would like a younger dog so Fin is still looking for his forever home.

What a shame as the older dogs are just so lovely little characters. I'm sure the right home will come along soon, Fin. Viviane. X

Sadly, the lovely couple who visited Fin would like a younger dog so Fin is still looking for his forever home. That's very sad for Fin. I have to say that was in the back of my mind when I suggested Fin for them - but he seems a very young dog both in body and mind. He's lovely, and I hope someone snaps him up very, very soon.

It would be helpful to know if he is good off lead and has good recall. Also whether he is well socialised with dogs he doesn't know and if his owner believes he would be better as the only dog or could he become part of a pack?
Any information on his current diet and any digestive issues/dental health would be good too. Reading through Fin's thread, we don't seem to know him very well yet. He looks like a gorgeous prospective pet who could fit into quite a few people's households as he is only a little chap. X

I did his assessment, but it's the first one I've done and didn't know whether it was my role to update his thread on here?? I took my bitch Cleo with me, and he got on fine with her. Some initial sniffing and wagging, and then he went to lie down quietly on a cushion whilst I had a chat to his mum. He's not so good with male dogs though, and can take a dislike to certain dogs. He was rehomed with a male and it didn't work out. He was the only puppy in the litter, and therefore missed out on a lot of early socialisation. His recall is good and he walks well on the lead. That's all from memory without referring to my notes to Jenny.

Do you think he might suit an older retired couple as an only dog?

Do you think he might suit an older retired couple as an only dog? I think so, as long as he got plenty of exercise. He has a little bit of excess weight to lose through lack of exercise over time. He has always lived as an only dog, and is doing so at the moment, so I think he would be idea for a couple who are around all the time.

Errrr - sorry! I've only done an initial assessment on Fin, so I have no idea of the amount of exercise needed to shed his excess weight and keep him trim!! The reason I mentioned exercise being important is because of his slight tendency to be overweight at the moment, and the fact that he has missed out on regular exercise recently due to time constraints within his family. The amount of exercise that can be offered to a dog is one of the questions that comes up during a home check. These questions are getting too difficult for me now - must be my bedtime! (Oi Keith, stop being cheeky!!! I had to send a written assessment to Jenny so those were the notes I was referring to!!!

I can't believe Fin hasn't been snapped up yet. He's a very straightforward dog with no real issues. There must be someone out there who can give him a forever sofa to cuddle up on?

Hi - would love to help. New to forum and can't access any of your email addresses because there's something wrong with my default email thingie! Couldn't fill out the adoption form either. Very technologically challenged! Sorry, i know you're really busy, but is there some way of sending you my email so that I can start contacting you? We're in Lincoln, just inside your boundary. Thanks.

Okay... Fin is out on trial with Sharon at the mo to see how he gets on with her two whippet girls. And so far so good... I think a decision is imminent.
