Hi Slim fans
Slim is feeling much better this morning! He's back to normal and quite put out that he had to stay on lead for his walk. Much to his bemusement, we're lifting him in and out of the car because he's not supposed to "jump up" yet!
He'll be popping back to see Louisa our vet for a check up on Friday morning.

Glad Slim's on the mend Would LOVE to see you stop him 'jumping' for the duration - good luck with that ;D ;D ;D

Mum tried us on a new diet today after speaking with your mum on Sunday. She gave us some raw chicken wings, which we were not too sure about. I took mine outside and buried it until I work out what to do with it. Rosie ate hers and wanted a second one, which I thought was a bit dodgy. Sure enough, five minutes later she had puked the whole lot up on the carpet. Not sure mum fed it to us right.
Hi Sally I've PM'd you. You did nothing wrong. Puking on a first attempt is normal! Mum has done nothing wrong, and neither have the dogs rejected the diet. It's just a big change, that's all! Don't give up! X

Glad Slim's feeling better, he looks a little miffed on the photos! I started giving Milo the chicken wings, he also looked very confused – as the only time he has had raw chicken is if he's pinched it! He's got used to it now – and can't wait at dinner time... He seems a lot less sluggish, brighter eyed, his teeth are 200% better (as is his breath!) and we now have no (sorry...) anal gland issues!! It was an all round good decision, please persevere – I'm sure it'll work out.

Well we have hit on one method for stopping Slim jumping around in the evenings. Stoke up the log burning rate and make the room warm! Is it really that warm in here? Let's take a look: Yep, it's really warm in here! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Hi peeps, Slim here
I had to go back to see my vet, Louisa, today for a post-op check up. She was very pleased with me and said I can have a run off lead on Monday. Val and Bill who look after me say they can't wait. I don't know why.
Tia my girlfriend was weighed to check how she's getting on with her new raw food diet. Louisa said she had lost a little weight. Louisa knew because Val took her to be weighed 3 weeks ago when she came to live with Chloe and me. Louisa said it was nothing to worry about because it takes a little while to get used to new food and digest it properly.
Val was a bit upset and looked up some stuff on the internet which said more fats and oils would help. A research document showed dogs can digest more protein more easily if they have a spoonful of olive oil over their fresh food. So tonight we had turkey carcass and a piece of venison neck with a bit of olive oil poured over it. We all liked that! Tia thought I might pinch some of her supper, so she told me off.
As we both had 3 meals today anyway, I was not bothered and I concentrated on scoffing my own food. I like girlie dogs, even if they tell me off.

Now that is a picture of total contentment ..... ;D I am sure Tia will put some weight back on once she is used to the Raw Diet .... she only had biscuits and fish here so probably quite high in fat, so making the change will take a while to adjust Keep on being a fabulous Mummy Val ... i couldnt have asked for better

Hi Slimbo, really pleased to hear that you are healing well and that Louisa gave you the thumbs up for running free on Monday. Please tell Val and Bill that, having spent 7 days with you on lead, I can totally appreciate their relief at that news ;D Glad also to hear that you and Tia are still 'an item'. I do hope she's not going for the super-model look in order to impress you. Say "Hi" to all the family for me please and tell your mum that she has my nomination as a Foster Mum Extraordinaire

How has Slim not got a home yet? Young, gorgeous, good with dogs and people, he sounds wonderful. It's a mystery to me!

Some may have worried about Slim's habit of mouthing, which makes him unsuitable for homes with small children. Slim does not mean any harm. He only does it when he's excited and feeling playful. We find a very stern 'no!' reminds him humans are delicate and must not be treated as he would treat a dog he was playing with.
Slim is mouthing less now, and in any case I'd always have said a bouncy, energetic 13 month youngster like him probably wouldn't suit a household where children are that small. This is a lovely, friendly, fun-loving and easily trainable dog for an active outdoor-loving family.
We let him off-lead for a run this morning and he raced like a beautiful streak of Sahara sand to the other side of a 10 acre field. I blew a high pitched whistle (3 short blasts) and held up my hand to show a reward was available for a prompt return. Slim rocketed back to me, skidding expertly to a sit at my feet. This boy is fab. Not many as beautiful and as good come from rescues. If people saw him as I see him every day, there'd be a queue of hopefuls outside SLR.
I have 2 dogs already so I will not be keeping Slim. When some lucky person chooses Slim I will keep his foster place here open until his new home tells me I can't have him back. Slim. is. cool.

Awwwwwwwwww! Val! What more can a boy want than a foster mum who loves him so much, and who is happy to keep his bed warm in case he needs it?!
