This special little girlie stole my husbands heart when he picked her up from the PDSA, to the point he nearly drove straight home ;D I am glad she is with you Keith, after all the great work and love you gave to our Ollie x x

Sorry to invade your post Keith, but a little information on Trixie twixie from her Rescuer and the P.D.S.A. Trixie twixie has come into us through the PDSA. She has a sad story behind her. Approximately 7 weeks ago she was rescued from a house where she was being ill-treated. She was literally given away to the family who rescued her. At just 13 months of ago. Then she escaped over the six foot fence of their back garden and was immediately run over by a hit and run. She managed to run back to their house, dragging her leg with her. The vets did try to repair the leg but it would not re-set properly, possibly because of the extent of the damage to the bone, and so it was decided to take the leg off. The family who had rescued her had already decided that she was not going to be permanently with them; they were actively looking for a new home for her, but this prompted them to ask the PDSA to look for a home for her. That's where SLR came in. She is a lovely little girlie; is used to living with dogs and children, and has learnt her lesson about trying to jump 6 foot fences. She is a lot quieter now. Losing the back leg does not affect her stability or ability to race around. She will be up and running with the best of them shortly. After just 8 days the operation has healed very well. We do not rehome young dogs to anyone who works more than part-time and only rehome within 200 miles of base in Harlow, Essex. All prospective adopters will be homechecked. Please email for details as the phones are continually busy with emergencies. ................................................................................................ And in light of her pass....please * Who is going to feed and exercise this dog every day? * Does every member of the household want a whippet? * Have you the time and resources to make sure that an active dog will have a happy and healthy life with you for twelve to fifteen years? * Are you prepared to take trouble to train your dog not to be a nuisance to others, not to chase stock or neighbours' cats? A whippet's instinct is to chase and kill what it catches. * Is your garden securely fenced? * Are your children of an age to behave responsibly with a dog? * Are you looking for a pet to be part of the family or is your idea of a dog something to be left in a kennel until required? A whippet will not thrive on such treatment. * Can you return the affection a whippet gives? KEITHX thank you just to keep you going may be along night quick preview golden caramel, silky and delicious with a hint of sweetness, just how i like them........... let you all know more later ......... keithx PS The vet done a good job by the looks of it healing well as you can see have to call her hop along thats if you what to look stop now if you don,t.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Feeling deeply upset after reading poor Trixie's story......... Will never ever be able to understand what goes on in people's mind... Why oh why............? Trixie, you are such a beautiful little girl (a big strong girl, really!) And everybody here at SLR will do everything they possibly can to find you a wonderful forever home that you never had......... But we know it is out there for you, somewhere.............. Viviane. X

Love the question...will you return the love a whippet will give you? No it isn't possible to match the love they give...but I'm prepared to go on trying! Give her a hug from me.

What a beautiful Girl!
Don't be put off by the fact she has 3 legs, they really don't need 4!! There is nothing my boy cannot do (apart from scratch his ear ;D) and is treated the same as my other dog.
Good luck Twix xx
