Great news cherubim! Vet's very happy with Munch's progress so she's allowed off lead for 5 mins of each walk, slowly building back to our 10km days (groan! lol). He's recommended that we keep up the weekly hydro for 3 months too. Woofs & yips M&M xx

What a touching story! Any news? Hydro therapy is great - they use it for racehorses with tendon and other leg injuries too.

Hope y'all coping with this snow?! Munch absolutely adores it, bless her lil loony lurcher paws So thought you'd like to see a pic i took of her up on the West Hill this morning on my mobile.... The hydro's still going ok although she's now developed arthritis in her special ankle & knee, so she's continuing on Hill's JD, flexi-joints & have started her back on some devil's claw too. Am also doing more road work with her again as this means she has to use the leg (can resemble a rudder in the pool some days!?) & this seems to have helped start building the muscle yet again However since the snow, she's been off lead most of the time as it's safe for her to (ie. no traffic etc.) plus keeping upright with an exuberant turbo hound can be a bit beyond a challenge!? Happy to say her recall's still very good though, love her. Biggest woofs & yips, M&M xx

Thought twas high time for an update.... All is grand in the world of Munch The hydrotherapy worked wonders (& the great surgery of course!), so herself is now using the special, slightly shorter leg 85-90% of the time. Here are a couple of pix from our local perambulations... Woofs to all at SLR from M&M xx

Thanks for the well wishes SLR stars Here's a pic of the 2 of them after a walk, Mw (aka Mia) needing her doze & Munch still wanting to play... pretty please? As you'll know from Mwmin's thread (or Moomin for any non-Welsh speakers, lol) our fostering foray sadly didn't work out Although Munch absolutely loved Mwmin to bits, Mwmin persisted in rebuffing her a bit too physically Munch is completely submissive & refused to fight back (& if she'd taken that route i think i'd have been on the way to having a nervous/snappy lurcher & no way want that to ever happen), so unfortunately my poor lass ended up carrying a few cuts & bruises as she's so very thin skinned This quote regarding terriers seems to explain the behaviour very well "Normally a dog will stop attacking when the other dog yields. But terriers have a quality called gameness. This instinct makes it appear they enjoy fighting. Whether that’s what the dog is actually feeling or not, it means the terrier doesn’t accept the other dog’s surrender, and the game dog keeps attacking. Terriers make fine pets. You just want to avoid keeping two terriers of the same sex together." Maybe if Munch were a more assertive (& less playful?!) hound, then perhaps the lovely Mwmin would still be residing with us (& we'd have failed BIG time with the fostering - she is SUCH a gorgeous girl!), but unfortunately it was not to be Gutted to see Mw go but also so wonderful to see herself so happy with Karla's pack - can't believe she's not found a forever home yet though!!!? Big up to the SLR fostering families, so much respect! Anyhoos, Munch's fully healed again now (thanks Jenny/SLR for the helping hand) & it's very apparent that she would definitely love to have a full-time canine friend around. We both had an attack of that blurriscreenitus when Mwmin left with the lovely Simon, an SLR transport diamond man... but are wondering if perhaps a male would be a more suitable companion for her? Her best mate has always been Alfie, a friend's 3 yr old collie/shepherd who is also submissive, loves our long runs/walks, is obsessed with tennis balls etc but is always happy for herself to take them out of his mouth & run off with them She adores canine company & who am i to deny her? There's a certain handsome hound currently in SLR fostering who could well be the one she's looking for... So we're planning to be meeting up with himself & his foster-mum this Thursday Keeping fingers & paws firmly crossed that they'll hit it off like Kim & Jack did.... ;D Let you know how we go..... Woofs & yips from M&M xx

I think Munch started teaching a certainly little girl that playing is actually pretty good fun as over the last 4 weeks since Moo's been with us she's certainly shown she's very capable of it Mwmin absolutely loves to play with my Reggie but doesn't want to play with my bitch Shylo so perhaps her and Munch were just too alike in their needs and are destined to have male company. They weren't made for each other which is a real shame but thankfully you saw that early on so that we could make them both happy with the current situation Wishing you & Munch lots of luck for Thursday, hopefully it'll all work out perfectly for you
