I thought you were a compassionate man Barney and then I look at Mickey's thread only to be tortured by my idea of hound perfection:- Annie and Mickey ;D ;D ;D

I'll never forget Mark's reaction the first time he encountered two lurchers giving it their best - He promptly did a spiderman impression straight up the nearest vertical surface ;D

Why do Lurchers play rough. I know they do but does anybody know why?
I have vague ideas but I've never pondered it long enough to work it out.
I don't want to tangle up Mickeys thread so if you have an idea please put it on chat and I will follow it up there. x

hi all, well i am glad to see that at least all the time i spent working with mickey on recalls and obed and walking nicely on leash paid off...... My heart is still breaking about mickey and i just cannot stop crying - this sucks and i miss him - but poor koda just couldnt take it and he had lost about 15 lbs from stress and fear - luckily koda seems less stressed....
Mickey is AWESOME!!! he paid alot of attention to learning the house rules and learning to pay attention when off lead and walking nicely on lead. He is a tremendous boy with alot of GREAT qualities......
i miss him very muchxxxxx

Hi Janeen -
I can honestly say that the Mickey who left here with you has returned a different dog - you've obviously put a lot of work in with the lad, & it has definitely paid dividends.
I'm so sorry that things didn't work out between Mickey & Koda - 'tis good to know that your lovely boy is getting back to his old self.
Mickey's doing fine here - his kennel cough is responding very well to the medication, & he's not been any problem whatsoever in any respect.

Hi Janeen Would just like to second Barney's post. Mickey is an absolute wonder and although he was only with us a few days he was an absolute delight to have around. You certainly did a wonderful job with him and it was a pleasure to have him here and to take him on the Surrey walk. We did let him off lead and he came back on every call and of his own accord to check up on us. Not bad for a dog you've only had two days! Its all credit to you and your dedication to him and I'm really sorry that things turned out the way they have. I think that if it were not for Judy's age, we would have him back in a flash.

Now that I've got the hang of the camera that Keith kindly gave me when I killed the previous one, & I have my internet connection back, some pics from the last couple of days of the lovely lad who caused the latter problem:

p.s. Mickey will need to go to a home with a very secure garden - I don't know if Moss left instructions behind for new fosters coming into the home-kennel, but Mickey can, (& does!), easily clear the tall stairgate in the hall from a standing position, & can usually be found the wrong side of it when I return from a shopping expedition.

A couple of pics of Mickey enjoying today's weather:
The lad finished his anti-inflammatory pills yesterday, but is on ABs for a few more days yet. He hardly coughed at all yesterday, so the Benylin was redundant, but he started coughing & spluttering when he got over-excited about me returning from a shopping trip this morning, so the medicine was duly administered, & he's had no recurrence this afternoon. He's been pretty stoic about it all, & hasn't complained or apparently felt sorry for himself, (.................is he a proper Lurcher? ;D ;D ;D ).
'Tis not yet a week since he exhibited the first symptoms of KC, so given an incubation period of around 10 days, I still don't know if the Hooligans will go down with it.
