Another update on the golden boy ;D Cai's been doing really well and is becoming bolder by the day. He's really come out of his shell. His house training is almost perfect, but he still has the odd accident or two, but these are becoming less and less frequent. He knows he has to do his business outside, it's just sometimes he can't get there fast enough He's a very bouncy, playful puppy, who has his mad moments in the garden when he needs to burn off some energy. His recall is also coming on really well. He's been offlead a couple of times now in a secure area, and had a nice little run and play with Fionn. And if you call him he'll stop playing and make his way over to you. So this can only improve, I'm sure. He craves attention, and loves being fussed. But this boy is quite insecure. He does not like to be left for very long. I am here all the time with him, and he is fine, but he will cry if you go upstairs and he is left downstairs. He was also left for an hour last week and when I came home he had been chewing things and scratching the doors, and was obviously quite stressed. So a home where someone is around most of the time is what he needs. But with patience, the time he can be left could be built up. Yesterday he went off to the vets to be neutered. After his op he was put in a walk-in kennel, which was about 4 ft square, and had 6 foot walls around it. A short while later the vet walked in to see him at perched at the top of the wall, about to leap down Thankfully she managed to calmly lift him off and put him on the floor. He was also howling a lot, so he got to spend the rest of the day under the desk in reception So, we know that if he wants to get out of somewhere, he can clear 6 foot. He has never attemped to climb any fences here, but we know he's capable. Cai really is a brilliant dog. He loves dogs and people, and just wants a home where he can feel safe and be loved, and enjoy life. He needs someone around most of the time, with no small animals or cats, and can go as an only dog or with other dogs. Whoever adopts Cai will be repaid tenfold with love Sleepy Cai: You mean I'm not a man anymore?!? "It's ok Cai, your new Mum and Dad are out there somewhere..."

Just a quick update on Cai. He's now been here for 5+ weeks, and we're still learning things about him. He's getting better at being left, as long as he has another dog with him. He's improving every day with this, and no longer cries if you leave the room/go upstairs, etc etc His house training has been perfect over the last couple of weeks, he hasn't had a single accident We've noticed that in the house he can get very vocal if anyone comes to visit. He will bark/growl at strangers coming in, but will go straight over to them and after a sniff is fine and will just ask for attention Cai's recall is coming on really well too, he's still great out on walks and is very friendly with all dogs. There's not much more to say really that hasn't been said before, other than that this very loving, bouncy boy is still waiting for his new home He's child friendly: Can rough house with the best of them: And fall asleep afterwards: He makes funny faces when he sleeps: And whoever gets this boy will be in the money ;D (NOTE this photo wasn't staged, I left some money on the armchair and came back to find him like this) And did I mention he's gorgeous?

He is such a lovely boy smashing photos as usual Rowan what more can any one ask for in a hound. They might be even be in the money as you say if someone takes him on. Or is that just a bit of bribery and corruption to find him a new home. ;D ;D ;D

He is beautiful - just as well I'm a hemisphere away. Somehow his expressions remind me of my own black collie/greyhound cross - those melting eyes.

He is quite big, considering his age, but he still seems small to me compared to Fionn! And yes, Cai will be present today, so please come and say hello to him, he loves to be fussed and cuddled

Cai is temporarily in the Harlow Hooligans' home-kennel whilst his foster family are away on holiday.
Reacquainting himself with the Essex surroundings where he over-nighted on his initial arrival into SLR's care:
Savouring the aftertaste of the chicken nuggets he was promised if he was a good boy:

Bless Really miss him the big baby, we're all out of sorts without him There's no need to worry about him Hannah, the lad's fine - he's getting on well with my lot & enjoying some proper Lurcher fisticuffs with Mickey. He slept well last night, (snuggled up to me on the big settee), & has been out for three walks this morning, firstly just with Mickey, then with Annie & Winnie, & lastly in the company of Erin & Murphy. He was well behaved on each occasion.

I'm glad to hear Cai's doing well. I knew he'd be in his element with the Harlow Hooligans and Mickey as house mates. And I also knew he'd love those chicken nuggets!!! As for being patient, at our house it was Fionn's patience that was being tested, as Cai would constantly drag Fionn out by the collar for a play! Anyway, I thought I'd post a few last photos of Cai's stay in the manic Blackmore house Cai soon realised that when Fionn decides to roach, there's not much room left on the sofa, even if you curl up small:
