Maisie is SLR's latest intake. Picked up wandering in Essex, she has served her 7 days. She is a lovely waggy girlie. Currently being fostered with Angie and Co. Introductions were made this morning and Maisie was playbowing with Rosie and Lenny in no time at all. Maisie stands approximately 26 inchees at the shoulder, still has her puppy coat, like a teddy bear and almost chocolate, but that will change to black as she matures. Very very similar in statue to the lovely Loly rehomed recently. She loves a cuddle and leans. Beautiful. And good condition. She has a couple of nicks on her and her nose has had a scrape but she is just lovely First piccies of Maisie at the holding kennels. Insisting that she sees where we are going. Are we there yet? And at Angies. And meeting the gang.

right then maisie's progress report, she has been with us since friday lunch time and has adjusted well to living in a home which i don't think she previously had, she is being crate trained which she is tolorating well and just lays down now instead of crying, it took her 2 days to get in one of the dog beds and 3 days to find out that the sofa is comfy and the bed is good too, she is very loving most of the time (all will be explained further on) and is finding out that it is nice to have some close contact via cuddles etc, she is 26" to the shoulder and weighed in at approx 21kg so needs to gain a few pound, the vet put her at about 2yrs old although myself and jenny put her a bit younger than that at approx 16mnths, she plays like a puppy still, and in true lurcher fashion she counter surfs and has tried to get in the bin a couple of times (unsuccessfully to date) and has i hope given up trying,
Now her only problem is she is food aggressive and not over her dinner bowl(fed in crate) it seems to be anything she deems edible, i feel we are making some progress with her as she and lenny walked through the doors from the garden wilst i was holding her dinner bowl without batting an eyelid, i am hoping because she is young that she will become less aggressive once she realises that she is going to have regular food at a regular time, we are being extremly cautious about the kitchen of which she is now banned if we are preparing dinner etc dogs or humans, and now stands at the threshold looking and if i point and tell her out or go away she does turn and walk away and that goes for my two aswell( no favortism they are treated the same) plus i am not taking any chances were food is concerned. this really is her only down fall as she has such a lovely nature in every other department, she has had two accidents toilet wise and to be fair to her it was our fault, once when fred got up early she did go to him and ask to go out and he ignored the cross legged stance and pee'p on the the bedroom floor, and second time was down to me she did go to the back door and i ignored her untill i had finished what i was doing so pee'p in the conservatry, she does ask to go out and come in, she does show signs of a bit of SA even when fred is in it lasted about five mins today so that is getting better aswell, and will carry on working on this, she has'nt been cat tested ,i was going to take her with me over to tarkasmum on monday but forgot about her going in to be speyed on the same day so will have to make other arrangements now, after disscussing her problem with jenny we both agreed that if we cant get her food aggression under control she will have to go to home where she will be the dog of which i think she will relish in with all the attention, she does play well on her own and will fling her toys about and run and get them again especially as rosie and lenny sent her coventry for three days, lenny has now forgiven her and they are playing really well together which i do supervise in case lenny decides it's pay back time for haveing ago at him rosie still looks at her with contemp but i have seen her have a sneaky play with her not for long but it is progress, i will post some pics but photo bucket is a bit slow atm so will try again later.
will keep you posted.

I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely girl on Tuesday. She really is a lovely young lady. She looks at you with such warm eyes, desperate to be loved.
Keep up the good work Angie. As we said, she will hopefully settle down soon as she knows when the next meal is coming, and Lenny and Rosie are no threat what so ever x x

Lovely update and photos Angie. Was that Clayton Hills? I am sure as the days go by she will settle even more and the food aggression will be left behind.

touch wood jenny we have'nt had any incidents since sunday so we are making a bit of progress with her, also she has met my friend sarah's little one (4yrs) twice this week and has been really calm around her no jumping up just a waggy tail to say hello, and i looked after molly for 4 hours today and she was playing ball with maisie in the garden(supervised of course) and she was bringing it back and when asked to leave it she did every time, when molly picked up the ball maisie just stood there waiting for it to thrown, i did have to laugh though the first time molly tried to get her to leave it she was telling her to spit, she really is gentle and loving and just wants some to do the same back, she does still cower down if you raise your arms for any reason, if it is a sudden movent she hits the deck . yes it was clayton , they are still doing loads of work over there but it was a lovely day but hot so we plonked for there so they had the lake to cool down all 3 of them loved it.

Lovely photos Angie she looks even more black now than she did when you first picked her up, maybe her coat is changing. I think a lot of these foster dogs are food orientated/ aggressive. When Mischa first came to me she was an accomplished counter surfer, that has improved no end. She was no way food aggressive but to put it bluntly a greedy pig and if any thing was going she was going to have it or so she thought. But now she is happy to wait her turn with the rest of them as she knows things always get shared between them all. So I think at last she has learned a bit of patience. Its nice to hear that Masie is settling with you she looks well at home bless her.
