I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your lovely hound Ben and welcome your decision to find a new companion for Saffie. You fell in love with sad little Chloe straight away and think they will be getting on well with each other, so little Chloe could not have wished for better news................. Hoping everything will be going allright for you all and your lovely Saffie and little Chloe will be firm friends the moment they meet each other...................... So very pleased for little Chloe - may the sun be shining for her again, her eyes be sparkling and her tail be wagging ........... Viviane. X

Hurray! We picked up Chloe today. Her owners were very sad to see her go, and she behaved impeccably for us (after a few chicken bribes and slipping her collar to run back to mum - oops!). Here she is at home in Verwood taking a short comfort break, while the chickens looked on, bemused. They knew they didn't know this girl, but she hasn't shown any interest in them so they are very reassured. More news when she's settled in and had a chance to catch her breath. Thanks to Jenny and everyone at SLR who worked so hard to organise this rehoming.

Hi everybody Yes, she's home and there's no need for anyone to be on standby any more. In fact, I've failed as a foster carer totally! We'll be sending in our adoption application tomorrow. We've had a wonderful first full day with Chloe; she really has stepped up to the plate and won all our hearts. You can see why here: We were up early after a peaceful night with no stress or worries from Chloe. Husband Bill and I set off with Saffie and Chloe for a walk through our neighbouring nature reserve known as Bugden's Copse. Here's me and the girls: And here's hubby Bill having his turn at being the pack leader: Then it was back home for breakfast (scoffed politely, with due regard for greyhound/lurcher etiquette - no cleaning the other girl's bowl until she's not looking). Saffie retired back to bed for a kip, while Bill, me and Chloe piled into the car so Bill could drop me off at work. Of course, Chloe had to come in and meet everyone. My friends all dubbed her a magnificent "cut and shut" lurcher because she's rough-coated at the front and smooth-coated at the back! Then Bill took her to Sainsbury's, where she waited quietly and patiently for 5 minutes while he popped in to pick up some fresh veggies. Then home, and later he took Chloe for a walk in the Ringwood Forest, which she loved because she was allowed the freedom of a flexi-lead. Home again for a kip, then Chloe and Saffie went out again for an afternoon stroll at about 4 pm before they had dinner at 5 pm. Bill picked me up from work at 5.30 pm and we returned home to find two perfectly well-behaved girls, who greeted us as only best friends can. I'd picked up a couple of new day-beds at lunchtime, so I thought they should pose for you: And there's one last shot here, of Chloe lying at my feet while I type this post: She is absolutely lovely, biddable, easy and so loving. There is little trace of her being nervous. She has met and said hello to at least four strangers today and she suffered each one of them to make a big fuss of her. She's entitled. Hope you all enjoy the photos. I think adopting older dogs is fab; it doesn't get any better than this.
