I can assure you all that Belle gets two good walks today even if it is on lead still. That dog is such a couch potato, I think she is loving every minute of it . I have three sofas so its take your pick time her favorite place at the moment is my conservatory as its the sunniest place.

Belle meets the cats. have been waiting to see if Belle is cat friendly. So went to visit daughter who has two. She was so good with them I was impressed, I first kept her on her lead while they had a good sniff around each other and got to know each, then I let her go and all was well for the rest of the evening. Thing is one is an older cat and one is a kitten say about 8/9mths old. The kitten kept trying to swipe poor Belle on the nose, and she was so good with it all. Well that was yesterday, today we went again to visit to have pancakes. There was such a to do with them all today and none of it poor Belle's fault. The kitten took a swipe at her again Belle took exception and growled at the kitten, with that the big cat decided to join in and chased poor Belle around the kitchen with all claws going. All she did bless her was to leg it out of the way. Cats who would have them. No harm done cats got shut out, until all had calmed down. She is such a lovely dog its lucky she put up with it from them. So from now on I will be kitten aware to be on the safe side.

OMG. You were very brave Jean. Those nasty cats beating up such a lovely little lurcher. Oh well, you did try. Not Belle's fault if they are not dog friendly!! Hope you have some joy with the separation anxiety. Too many cuddles, me thinks ;D

Yes poor Belle it was not her day today they have a large fish pond in their garden, I went in the garden with her so she could have a wee. I don't know how she managed it but she ended up with her front half in the pond, she had the sense to back out other wise she would have been completely in!. Can not blame the cats they were tucked up indoors. She wont want to visit there again.

Belles first taste of freedom. Had her first off lead run today, she was so happy. Walked her with some other dogs that we know. She was fine, the only thing she hated was having to be muzzled, I don't think she has ever worn a muzzle. After the episode with the cats last night I don't think she will show much interest in small dogs, squirrel and rabbits can take there chance but can not take the chance with small dogs at the moment. She was only off lead for a few mins but came back no trouble. Will let her have a bit longer each day.

Just a few pics of Belle's taken today. As you can see she is not that confident so hopefully she will not go to far at the moment. Happy days to come still, we will get our confidence and trust in each other together over time. She is such a lovely good girl I am so happy with her.

She is such a lovely good girl I am so happy with her. I'd lay odds that the lass isn't exactly miserable to have found such a lovely home & Mum either!

It always make me so happy to see a dog go off lead. You have been an inspiration to new rescue dog owners. Thanks for all these updates. It just goes to show, that love wins through.

Sounds like Belle is coming along really well and gaining in confidence which is lovely. That first off-lead is a really nerve racking experience. We let Bran off with the "gang" on our first SLR walk and it was lovely to watch and thankfully he wasn't too bad considering we had him only a week at the time. Hope it won't be too long before we meet again on a walk. ;D

Yes I am looking forward to meeting up and going on some SLR walks with Belle, I know she will love running with some other hounds. When I was confident Belle knew her name I though it was time to try her off lead dogs need to run and be free. She is good with other dogs, even small ones she is fine with today I let her run without her muzzle I don't think she is going to need it. I meet up with some other ladies with five other dogs and we walk together, she is happy with their company sniffing and nosing around. Yesterday she did run after two boys on bikes cutting across the field on there way home from school, and came running back with a crisp bag. Don't know if they drooped it or she pinched well shes not my dog!
